In order to give his mate time to grow into a woman, Gregorie has kept his distance from Alyssa but evil forces are conspiring to topple the Realms and he has to find his mate before she is take by corrupt immortals in this thrilling paranormal romance. The intriguing events draw the reader in and ensure that there is never a dull moment while the well written scenes and details make it easy for the reader to get lots in the story. After finishing the first book of this series I was eager to sink my teeth into the next book. And OMG was it hot!!!! Setta is basically the Queen of the steam! I loved the first book to bits but Gregoire is on dirty talking alpha male that was possessive to the extreme. Alyssa was a treat; I loved her spunk and sass even though she was mostly functioning with limited information. I loved loved Sam! Although as much as I liked Alyssa, sometimes I felt that she was more like a little girl than anything else. With that said I still enjoyed the book thoroughly. See more reviews. I love that there are other storyline stunning through the book as well. Book 2 is another foray into fated mates trope with a new character pairing. This time around, I still found the the mechanics of the world and various types of characters as cool and compelling. The cast of characters as a whole is just really interesting to me and they fit the world Jay has established for them. That is not the case with this series so far. For instance, there was a turn with the antagonist established from book 1 that I did not expect, so I wonder what the world conflict will be moving forward. As with the previous book, I was more compelled when characters were interacting outside the erotic moments. This is a perhaps odd reaction to an erotic romance, but regardless of any genre label, I prefer when the main characters connect on more than a physical level. Rather than showing the two becoming a couple outside the bedroom there was a lot of telling, which made the relationship feel rather surface. The physical scenes between A and G were compelling and well-written; I just wished for the same quality from other scenes between them. Their dynamic was more interesting to me than A and G; so, there were times I almost wished the A plot of the story had been theirs instead. Still, A and G were good characters and I did like them well enough, even if my favorite scenes usually involved multiple characters instead of just the MCs. I especially loved the scenes when all the characters were together; ensemble casts are my catnip, and the guardians group has a lot of cool characters. As for the audiobook, this was yet another fantastic production; casting on this series has just been aces so far! I loved every minute of the performances, especially Troy Duran, who was his usual badass, sexy best. I would listen to him read just about anything. Angelina Rocca was fairly new to me, but she more than held her own here. This well-matched pair definitely made this ear-buds-in production a real scorcher! IThe duet format works really well with this series, and if the future castings of the upcoming books are as well-chosen as the first two books, the production values will continue to impress listeners. Absolutely worth a listen and I am once again looking forward to future audio productions in this series. All opinions are my own. Sooooo Hot! What a great way to follow-up book 1! This series is not only strong, but addicting. The connection between Gregorie and Alyssa ignites right off of the pages, and the reader is completely riveted to their chemistry. Gregorie has known Alyssa is his mate since she was a baby. Wanting her to come of age before he claims her, he has stayed away. Seeking to rid her thoughts of tradition, and her virginity, she decides to take a get-a-way with her bff, Rain, to Paradeisos Island. Known as an island of sin and decadence, where anything goes, Alyssa finds herself in a hands-on class with three instructors that leaves you drooling. Things take off once Gregorie finds out where his little mate has gone too, and the reader is only too thrilled when he finally catches her. Raised on tradition, she has longed for something more, and she ultimately finds it with Gregorie. Albeit reluctant at first, she soon finds that resisting him is something she is incapable of doing. Their relationship grows immensely when Gregorie surrenders everything to his little mate. Alyssa does turn up the heat before meeting Gregorie with a decadent scene on Paradeisos Island that some readers may find offensive. It is best to keep an open mind. Also note, that although Gregorie doesn't want anyone touching Alyssa—he sure doesn't mind others watching. I find it best if you read this series in order. There is an underlying story that is going on since book 1. Many characters are brought up again, and other guardians are given more time. I am really looking forward to see what the rest of the series has in store. Really enjoyed the second book in the series I'm ready to read the next one hope this author brings some more books out. It was alright. A lot of hot scenes and a lot of action What I like : -action packed, a lot is going on -courageous female characters -multiple couples are the focus of the story -different shapeshifters, that's interesting like horse and lion What I liked less: -big misunderstanding with the couple -selfish and irritating male lead -poor female lead, even her father belittle her. Coco loved being the life of the party — cracking jokes, doing pranks and making people laugh, her mom, Julianna Arnold, recalled recently. And they always looked fabulous on her. She never made it home. She was found dead the next day, two blocks from the address that the guy had provided her. Whatever the dealer gave Coco, her mother said, was not Percocet. It was a fake pill laced with fentanyl, which can be lethal in a dose as small as the tip of a pencil. Fentanyl overdoses have become a leading cause of death for minors in the last five years or so, even as overall drug use has dropped slightly. In a analysis of fentanyl-laced prescription pills, the DEA found that six out of 10 contained a potentially lethal dose of the drug. And social media, where tainted, fake prescription drugs can be obtained with just a few clicks, is a big part of the problem. The stories of these victims often play out similarly: The kids hear you can get pills on social media. A few taps later and then a package arrives. They retreat to the sanctity of their bedroom and take a pill. No one even knows until the next morning. Accidental overdoses in the U. DelPonte attributes this in part to more education and awareness about the issue. Among young people ages 0 to 19, there were 1, overdose deaths in , then 1, in , and 1, last year. A decade ago, people looking to buy illicit drugs online would visit the dark web. Using popular social media sites, encrypted chats, legitimate payment and shipping services, dealers moved into the light. Social platforms say they are constantly working to address the issue, while law enforcement has made some inroads. More than 1, associated cases involved social media apps and encrypted communications platforms, the DEA said. On Instagram, as recently as this summer, a simple hashtag search for popular prescription drugs brought up numerous results with accounts offering to sell illicit pills to anyone looking. Many accounts directed users to Snapchat or Telegram, where experts say encryption and alleged lax moderation make it even easier to engage in illegal activity. Money is sent through payment platforms and the drugs can be delivered by mail, DelPonte said. Meta, for its part, has made it more difficult to search for drugs on its platform in recent weeks. Mikayla Brown lost her son Elijah, who went by Eli, to a suspected fentanyl overdose in , two weeks after his 15th birthday. Eli loved skateboarding, video games and cooking. His favorite was spicy Cajun pasta his mom made and he just started to get into cooking himself. Eli began experimenting with marijuana in high school and he was going through what seemed like a phase many teenagers go through, his mom said. There was one exception, about a year before he passed away, his mom found him acting funny and he admitted to having taken Xanax, a prescription anti-anxiety drug. Eli was unresponsive. His cause of death was accidental fentanyl overdose. Meta also said it investigated accounts shared by The Associated Press and concluded they were not drug dealers, but financial scam artists based in Africa pretending to sell drugs locally. But drug dealers and other bad actors constantly shift their strategies, coming up with fresh ways to avoid detection. This is a challenge that spans across platforms, industries, and communities, and it requires all of us working together to address it. The company added that it works with law enforcement and proactively took down 2 million pieces of content, The teen was in therapy — social media really affected her and she developed anxiety and depression, Arnold said. We had talked about it. And there he was. Experts often single out Snapchat as a particularly dangerous platform, something the company vehemently disagrees with. In January, a judge ruled that the lawsuit could move to trial. Advocates are hoping that regulation of tech companies could help address the problem, as it might help with other dangers kids face on social media. In July, the Senate passed the Kids Online Safety Act, legislation designed to protect children from dangerous online content. It still awaits a vote in the House. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N. Roger Marshall, R-Kan. But for parents like Arnold, Brown and others who already lost their children to overdoses, it is too late. Support Provided By: Learn more. Sunday, Oct The Latest.
