It is a spa town in a wonderful, fairy-like location. Individual parts of the town are in charming picturesque valleys surrounded by forested hills belonging to the Walbrzych Mountains and the Owl Mountains. The first mention of the town comes from the 13th century. In fact, it relates to the currently south-eastern part of the town — Jedlinka, which at that time was a settlement of woodcutters and was within the borders of the property belonging to Bolek the First the Prince of Swidnica and Jawor. It is from the former German name Jedlinki Tannhausen , which was associated with the fir forests growing all around the town, that the current name of the town comes from. Mineral springs were discovered in Jedlina Zdroj in the 16th century, however, they began to be used on a larger scale in It was then that they were considered medicinal. Later on, in , he built a residential house called Grundhof near the source. The source was soon well-casted. The first spa buildings and facilities began to be built. It is she who is considered to be the founder of the resort and it is from her name that the spring received the name Charlottenbrunn until then it had been called Sauerborn or Tannhauser — Sauerbrunnen. Soon the entire settlement created at the source was named Charlottenbrunn the name used for Jedlina-Zdroj until The first description of the mineral composition and healing properties of the source comes from and is the work of Georg Jahmann — a medic from Swidnica. The next water tests were carried out successively: in by a chemist Klaproth from Berlin and in by Carl Beinert — a pharmacist and a biologist from Jedlina-Zdroj. In the 18th century Jedlina-Zdroj became not only a resort but also a centre of weaving and cloth making. In it received its town rights for the first time and it held them until The 19 th century saw the dynamic development of the resort again. Then many new hotels and guest houses were erected and recreational areas of the spa were established. At the same time both old and new spa facilities were modernized. The originator and initiator of many projects in this area was the already mentioned Carl Beinert. Many investments that aimed at further modernization and expansion of the resort were undertaken in the years by, then, the owner of Jedlina Zdroj — Carl Krister — the founder of the porcelain factory in Walbrzych. On his initiative, the Spa House was thoroughly rebuilt and expanded, a new walking hall and music pavilion were built on the promenade, the pavilion with the Charlotta spring was also rebuilt, and recreational areas were modernized. The period of stagnation ended in , when Artur von Klitzing bought for his commune a heavily neglected resort of Jedlina-Zdroj from its previous owner. Thanks to the extensive organizational, modernization and investment activities undertaken by the commune authorities at the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, Jedlina Zdroj not only quickly recovered from the fall but soon became one of the best known, most modern and most visited spas in the Silesia region. For example: in , 1, patients and 2, tourists stayed in Jedlina-Zdroj. Numerous modern hotels and guesthouses were waiting for the visitors. Statistical data show that in the town had 4 hotels, 20 guesthouses and inns with guest rooms, as well as 38 tourist houses and a youth hostel. Patients and guests visiting the spa were offered many cultural and entertainment attractions. There were, among others, concerts of orchestras and choirs, dance tournaments and forest festivities. World War II and, a few years after its end, the disappearance of mineral springs caused by the activities of the Walbrzych coal mines are the main reasons for the subsequent collapse of the spa. Between the years and climatic and landscape values of Jedlina Zdroj were used again and in the spa began to operate once more. Water for treatments was delivered from the spa in Szczawno Zdroj which operates as a part of one complex with Jedlina Zdroj. In , Jedlina-Zdroj was granted the town rights again. Nationwide and international events organized by the town: — International Street Theatre Festival, — Lower Silesian Soup Festival, — cycling races, — rally, — national lawn bowling tournaments. The concept of the trail appeared in mid on the basis of the existing trail for patients. The town authorities took a number of actions that improved the aesthetics highlighting its attractiveness and touristic values. The route of the trail was tidied up, viewing platforms were constructed and additional benches were added. For example information boards with a map of the route were made and set up, hand-drawn maps were printed, trail guards were employed and trained. A number of modernization and construction investments are planned in order to take full advantage of its assents not only for tourism but also for sport and recreation. It is this picturesque location that makes it wonderful here at any time of the year and the ubiquitous peace and quiet combined with the richness and beauty of the surrounding nature are conducive to contemplation and regeneration of strength.
