Staff are warm and friendly, and happy to arrange excursions to nearby islands for you. Breakfast can be enjoyed on your private terrace or buffet-style at the poolside Santosha restaurant, which offers a mixture of international and local-speciality dishes at breakfast and dinner. The upper-floor Le Combava restaurant offers fine dining with a particular emphasis on seafood. The Alambic and Infinity Pool bars offer a range of refreshments, cocktails, and snacks. There is a fantastic selection of beachside activities around Anse Severe, with excellent opportunities for swimming and snorkelling, with snorkelling gear provided free of charge. Bikes are also complimentary and are a great way of exploring the island. Elsewhere on the island you can find art galleries, a nature reserve, and the Union Estate — a coconut factory that is now a theme park, where you can tour the old Plantation house and go horse riding. The hotel can offer boat trips to neighbouring islands on its catamaran, the Oplezir. Two opposing trade winds generally govern the weather pattern: the north-westerly trades blow from October to March; and the brisker south-easterly trades blow from May to September, bringing the cooler and windier conditions ideal for sailing. The periods of calm between the trades produce fairly warm and wind-free conditions throughout April and also in October.
