The news comes less than 24 hours after Austria had already tightened up rules and required all tourists to show proof of either a booster jab or a PCR test. The new update has already been shared on Austria's Tourism Board website. A statement on the authority's website now reads: 'Due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, the United Kingdom will be classified as a virus variant region from 25 December in Austria. According to the tourism board, 'children under 12 are exempt too and teenagers eligible for the Holiday Ninja Pass will be able to enter with a negative PCR test. This is essentially a Covid pass for teens who are not fully vaccinated but older than 12 years old, to allow them to access the same venues as their parents such as hotels, restaurants and ski lifts.
