If you have visited Thailand chances are you may have witnessed the extravagant dancing beauties in a cabaret show or even through a personal encounter. Ladyboy's are referred to by many different names including kathoey, transgender, transvestite or cross dresser. Many ladyboys are now the toast of the town becoming famous throughout Thailand, some with successful modeling or television careers and a massive presence on social media.
In 2017, ten of the most famous have been ranked based upon their following and the frequency with which their names appear in local media. Today I thought it would be fun to take a look at these famous people with the help of Coconuts Bangkok, let's count them down.
Chalisa 'Rose' Yuemchai shot to fame after a minor role in the Chinese comedy movie 'Lost in Thailand', which made USD$107 million in profits. Chinese audiences were surprised when Rose delivered her single line in well spoken Mandarin. After the release of the movie she developed a strong Chinese fan base, with many Chinese travelers visiting Chiang Mai specifically to visit locations featured in the hit movie.
Nadia was crowned Miss Mimosa Queen Thailand in 2015. After winning the local trans pageant which is held annually in Pattaya she has since become quite well known. Since that time, Nadia has continued to work as a freelance model and dancer.
With nearly 100,000 followers on Facebook, Pynk gained fame after becoming a spokes model for a surgery hospital in South Korea. Thanks to her doctor, Pynk now looks like she came straight out of Japanese anime.
Jeen 20, made headlines in local media after showing up at the mandatory for men military draft in Thailand’s Chachoengsao province earlier in 2017. Her appearance wasn’t what the draft were expecting for a prospective soldier. Jeen became famous overnight after many people including the soldier recruits themselves took photos of her and posted them online.
Frame 22, shook up social media when she attended the military draft. Her cute and innocent look exempted her from military service but landed her many interviews on Thai TV. A communication arts major, the talented Frame produced a series of short films called 'Crazy Love' starring internet idols as actors.
Yoshi is known for her 'doll face' on social media. Not only a sensation on the internet Yoshi also appeared in a music video for Baitoey Rsiam, a world famous Thai country singer. She has also landed a few movie roles and has almost one million followers on Instagram.
Hana was definitely a fan favorite when she auditioned for modeling contest show 'The Face Thailand,' Season 3. Standing out from the crowd Hana was selected to be on the show but was eliminated midway through the competition much to the disappointment of her many fans. But it doesn’t seem to have mattered much, Hana had already developed a strong profile and successful modeling career before joining the show.
Another contestant on The Face Thailand Season 3, Blossom also didn’t make it into one of the coveted top three spots. However prior to the show, Blossom had already wowed fans and won hearts as the first runner up in Thailand’s most prestigious trans pageant, Miss Tiffany’s Universe 2013.
The latest trans beauty to do Thailand proud, Mo won Miss Tiffany’s Universe last year and later won Miss International Queen, the international beauty pageant for transgender women where she represented Thailand. Before receiving her title Mo became famous for her brief appearance on the popular Thai singing show 'I can see your voice,' where she surprised the audience by singing with a masculine voice.
After many years, Poyd remains as one of the most beautiful ladyboys in Thailand. She is the first transwoman that Thais will name and the idol of younger transpeople in the country. Poyd works regionally as an actress, and was named on a list of the 'most beautiful faces' in the world by US film magazine TC Candler.

Western men are becoming increasingly obsessed with Thai ladies many of them make the long distance travel to Thailand just to hook up. However, it is frustrating for many of them to find out that the girl they have fallen in love with is a Thai Ladyboy or what is referred to as katoey in Thailand – in other words, they were not born as females.

Thai Ladyboy is becoming increasingly popular because women earn more than men in Thailand. Many of the men have limited working option and to beat this obvious handicap, they undergo surgical operations to become transgender. Unlike most foreign men would discriminate, Thais do not discriminate against Thai Ladyboy and they can be found working in public places.

They are very hard to spot in the crowd if you are visiting Thailand for the first time. You would be fooled with ease if you base your judgment on facial appearance alone because they are just as pretty – if not more pretty – as the females. For a westerner planning to visit Thailand either to fall in love or for a vacation, there are ways you can tell the difference between Thai ladies and Thai Ladyboys.

* Thai Ladyboy is usually very tall beyond what can be perceived as the average for females. Although a handful of women in Thailand are taller than 180cm, the majority of Thai Ladyboys go well beyond this height.

* Females are females and they do not need to act it for you to know. However, a Thai Ladyboy is usually too self-cautious. You will notice them flicking at their hair or constantly trying to fake a catwalk. This is because they still have the male genes which they are working hard to suppress.

* A Thai Ladyboy is usually too loud in a manner that is high-pitched especially when angry. You could try to be naughty to see how your lady reacts to it if you are not sure whether you are dealing with a Thai Ladyboy.

* It is almost a rule for Thai ladies to wear a bra but same cannot be said about Thai Ladyboys. Their figures are usually exaggerated – often too big and provocative – and they tend to ditch putting on bra a lot. This can be a pointer to identifying them.

* Thai Ladyboy will also tend to dress more flamboyantly than an average female. This is often a way of boosting their self-confidence.

* One of the easiest ways you can identify a Thai Ladyboy is to look at her shoulder. Men usually have larger shoulders and feet than women and inasmuch as gender reassignment surgery takes care of the facial appearance, little or nothing is usually done to get rid of the broad shoulders and big feet.

* This may be hard to pull off but if you can get a hold of her ID card, you will certainly be able to tell if she is a Thai Ladyboy or not because ID card will always bear the birth gender irrespective of how much you have transformed.

If you are traveling to Thailand to hook up with a Ladyboy

Inasmuch as some men consider a ladyboy a rip-off, there are western men who actually travel to Thailand to hook up with a Thai Ladyboy. Their admirable heights and charming features are some of the reasons why some western men cannot keep their eyes off them.

A good number of the Thai Ladyboy you will meet will fall into one of two categories –pre-op and post-op. The pre-ops are those who have undergone some facial modification to make them look like females but are yet to get gender reassignment while the post-ops are those who have been totally transformed to females. It may be hard to tell one from the other from merely looking at them and you may need to ask to be sure – but make sure you ask politely.

If your main aim of traveling to Thailand is to date a Thai Ladyboy, then you need to know where they are concentrated to make your search easier. Pattaya and Phuket, in particular, appear to have the highest concentration of Thai Ladyboys. Some have even claimed that they are the most beautiful in the world. There are lots of places you will most certainly find a Thai Ladyboy and below is a list of the places they visit.

* There are a handful of Thai Ladyboy bars where you can be certain that the evening will not end without you finding a Thai Ladyboy to hook up with. Most of such bars are concentrated in Bangkok's red light district – and there are three of such red light districts.

* The easiest way to find a Thai Ladyboy in recent times is through the use of thai dating websites . Once you have found one, you can arrange your date. Some of the dating websites that are now available will allow you to search for ladies according to category and Thai Ladyboy would definitely be in the option.

* Thai Ladyboys love to party and there can be hardly any festival that you will not find a handful of them there. If you cannot make it to all the festivals, another good place you would find Thai Ladyboy is in resorts dedicated to tourists.

Why western men prefer Thai Ladyboy to females

Obviously, Thai Ladyboy understands what men want more than females because they have been men before – a female would only guess. Also, they rarely get angry like females which make them easier to handle.

Asian females tend to be restricted in the way they act in public by their cultures.
