Curry’s finesse and technique—that “sustained excellence” Ed Palubinskas talked about—has placed him at the top of the NBA’s charts for three-pointers made per game and is one of the many reasons he’s the Warriors—and the NBA’s—most valuable player.

The NBA this week awarded the honor of most valuable player to Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

The announcement came just weeks after fans were reeling over a video posted to Twitter of Curry sinking 77 three-point shots in a row during a Warriors team practice in April.

It seemed like an impossible feat, something fit for a world record. But “Reality Check” talked to former Olympian and NBA player-turned shooting coach and expert Ed Palubinskas, who said that Curry actually ranks number three in the world when it comes to the number of consecutively made three-point shots.

The world record-holder is the late Fred Newman, a bespectacled former Cal Tech assistant basketball coach and computer programmer. The amateur sank 209 straight three’s back in 1996 when he was 60 years old.

The only catch? Curry is still better.

Palubinskas told NBC Bay Area that Newman earned his record from the college three-point line, which is three feet shorter than the NBA’s line—the one that Curry has mastered. Three feet might not seem like all that much, but on the court it makes a big difference.

“We’re talking a different monkey here,” Palubinskas said in a Skype interview. “We’re talking NBA three’s and this guy is doing regular three’s.”

Sinking three-pointers with precision like Newman and Curry isn’t a matter of luck or athleticism, says Palubinskas. It’s straight up science.

Shooting accuracy can be measured in a number of detailed ways, from finger placement on the ball, to the speed of release, and the arc of the shot—which ideally is measured between 42 and 48 degrees.

Palubinkas’ job as a coach is to break down the mechanics of a player’s shot, and then correct them. He said that some of the pros he’s coached have had up to 23 problems associated with the way they shoot. He then works with them to correct those issues to increase their accuracy percentage.

Palubinskas says that hitting these calculations each time is what gives the best shooters “sustained excellence.” So it’s no surprise that a programmer has got it down.

It’s exactly the kind of mastery that had Curry sinking 77 consecutive shots, and 94 out of 100 total shots during that same practice last month.

Curry is setting the bar high for shooting fanatics, Palubinskas said, but that won’t stop wannabe record holders from trying to match it.

At just 19-years old and stunningly beautiful, straight-A chemistry student Alyssa Funke took her own life weeks after she dabbled in the seedy world of amateur porn and was mercilessly taunted for her decision.
Miss Funke, who wanted to be an anesthesiologist, decided to take part in a sex video with a stranger in Las Vegas for website CastingCouch-X, using the name 'Stella Ann'.
Days after the sex tape of the teenager, from Stillwater, Minnesota, was posted online in March, abusive messages flooded her social media accounts, many from her former schoolmates at Stillwater High.
Straight-A chemistry student Alyssa Funke, 19, from Miinnesota, took her own life two weeks after she dabbled in amateur porn and was mercilessly taunted for it
The messages, ranged from gossipy and sarcastic to nasty slurs about the University of Wisconsin student.
High school students had reportedly gathered around tables in the cafeteria to watch the teen's sex tape on their cellphones, according to KMSP-TV .
One called Miss Funke a 'thot', a slang word for prostitute, adding: 'Does her dad know?'
Another message sniped: 'Nothing brings a school together like a porn star who graduated last year.'
Miss Funke fought back - defending herself. She tweeted: 'Pornstar status' and 'FAMOUS for dayzzzzz.'
The last message she posted on Facebook on March 4 read: 'The people that envy & hate you the most, stalk you on social media the most so, hey hi hello how r u doing, this ones for you.'
She wrote a post to her 'future husband' and about vulnerable message about wanting a relationship where you 'never feel unwanted or alone'.
Funke went to Las Vegas for her interview with CastingCouch-X in March where she called herself Stella Ann. She appeared nervous on the tape and talked about her real dreams of becoming an anesthesiologist

The 19-year-old did not know the easiest of childhoods, despite describing her past with a shrug in her porn video interview as 'pretty much' normal.
Her biological father Rashad Bowman was jailed in 2001 for fraud in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Court records show that as a young girl, Alyssa tried to keep in contact with her father using audio tapes.
Her mother and a boyfriend were charged with drug-dealing. Family told KMSP-TV that the teenager had money worries and struggled with depression.
Despite brushing off the taunts from her peers, the words affected her, family said. On April 17, the teenager bought a shotgun, drove to Big Carnelia Lake and killed herself on her family's boat.
The teenage college student had a troubled upbringing with her father in jail in Arizona and her mother and a boyfriend arrested for dealing drugs
Her devastated family, who have been unwilling to speak publicly on her tragic death, launched The Alyssa Stop Bullying Fund , which has so far raised just $165.
On the site, a family message reads: 'On Wednesday April 16, at the young age of 19 Alyssa Funke took her own life. Alyssa like so many other teens was a victim of bully and sadly the bullying lead to her death.'
According to KMSP-TV, Miss Funke's video remains on their website. Attempts to contact the site have so far been unsuccessful.
The local sheriff's office is investigating the teenager's death but does not believe that the messages sent to Miss Funke amount to criminal harassment.
Miss Funke's story draws similarities with Duke student Miriam Weeks, 18, who was outed as porn star Belle Knox earlier this year and also sat on the same Vegas couch for CastingCouch-X.
Miss Knox, a women's studies major, made headlines earlier this year when one of her classmates outed her secret life as a porn star to the student body.
Since then, she has defended her decision to enter the adult film world on Piers Morgan Live, The View and other talk shows.
Weeks after Miss Funke made the sex tape and had been bullied relentlessly on social media, she drove to Big Carnelia Lake and shot herself on her family's boat

Monday, 8/9/2010: I had a busy morning. I had my first outdoor photoshoot with "Emilita," who I worked with last spring. It's been a year and a half, and this was definitely a fun photo session. It's enjoyable to add outside photos to all the indoor studio images I already posted onto my photostream. People have made their requests known to me, and I have listened to them.
Emilita is a beautiful brunette model who has a good sense of style. She wears a white tanktop shirt and blue denim jeans cutoff skirt as well as a little pink dress. She has a nice smile and a sexy, great body. It's a pleasure to work with her, as always. I have known her for quite a while and hope to work with her in a different location in the future.
The locations for this photo session are the playground, the gazebo, the lake, the river and in front of a brick wall as are several of my other outdoor endevors. I hope you like my images that I post and please revisit my work that has already been posted to my photostream.

6/30/2010: I orchestrated a glamour photoshoot with a young blonde woman named Tara. This girl has a nice personality and looks gorgeous. She took my direction well and acted in a professional manner as my beautiful model and was a good looking subject. I captured her in many poses and portraits with my Canon camera. She wore several colorful tanktop shirts and two pairs of blue denim jean shorts that exposed her great, long legs and butt. She also sported a little black dress. Her face and particularly her steel blue eyes are captured in some of my shots on my photostream. I really liked the style of this university student.
The location of this photosession was a historical downtown district in a small town. She posed in front of several old walls and some of the walls were painted unique colors that provide a different, creative look to some of my compositions. The girl also posed in a green tanktop and flipflops in front of a wall of ivy and vegetation. Elsewhere, she posed upon the concrete floor of an outdoor stage and on and around railroad tracks and an old, red train caboose. In some of my pictures, Tara is smiling, and she looks serious, though always sexy, in others. An old, rusty fire escape is utilized for some of the pictures, and a bench and picnic table are used in others.
The weather was steamy hot, and the sun was shining during most of the stylish, outdoors shoot. I really enjoy the summer months, and this late June afternoon was really enjoyable as was this fashion shoot.

One thing I'd like to be is more creative in my portraits. I think this would be improved through different manipulations in the color of my compositions. For example, I could adjust the saturation and exposure and contrast settings through photoshop or Picnic, and I could do more work in black and white. Otherwise, I could develop more elaborate, stylish themes for my photo sessions.
If you can think of an interesting, clever idea for a fun theme, please comment on this picture and tell me your thought because I would love to hear it. Sometimes, I feel worried that my amateur photo shoots are going to fall into a rut as I do roughly the same thing. I would like my photography to evolve into something special with fresh, new energy that people really like. On the other hand, I am still very much new and have pltny to learn. I'm not ashamed of this fact because I am not a professional photographer. I do this as a fun hobby that I would like to take to the next level. Please let me know through comments on my work as to what you like about this picture.
