It’s very impressive to me that anyone can build anything that looks like a real object or person or building out of Legos at all, let alone something that’s actually to scale. My elementary school creations usually ended up resembling a lost game of Tetris more than anything else. I was always absolutely stunned when kids came back from Lego land with pictures of themselves inside, like, houses built out of these tiny, tiny bricks. “Someday,” I’d think to my third-grade self, “someday, I’ll get to go to Lego land,” then shake my head, sigh, and go back to writing short stories about aliens and telling everyone I’d be the first woman to play in the majors.
Sadly, I never made it to either Lego land or the roster of a baseball team (whoever first said, “if you can dream it, you can do it” is a liar).
