Airbeds are useful when planning a camping trip, a sleepover or when you need additional space for a house guest. Coleman is a brand of airbed that offers a variety of styles that are durable for outdoor use, made of thick plastic and features reinforced seams to last longer. Although durable and convenient, the airbed may start to leak air after extensive usage. You can replace the airbed or easily repair the airplane using the proper tools. Locate the area on the airbed where you feel or hear the air leaking. Inflate the airbed completely to find the leak. Turn off any items in the room that may produce noise to be sure you can hear the leaking air. Sit or lie on the mattress and listen to pin-point the damaged area. Check both sides of the airbed for air leaks. Clean the damaged area with a damp cloth and dry it thoroughly with a clean cloth or towel. Obtain vinyl adhesive and a vinyl patch to repair the airbed. Contact the Coleman customer service at 800-835-3278 to purchase a patch kit.
Another option is to purchase the patch and glue at a home improvement or hardware store. You may also find a patch kit at a retail store. Prepare the adhesive patch by removing the protective sheet from the back of the patch. Center the hole under the patch and press the patch over the damaged area. Lay the patch flat on the damaged area and press firmly around the sides of the patch to seal it in place. Use a patch that is large enough to cover the damaged area; overlapping smaller patches is not recommended by the Coleman company. /Getty Images Suggest an Article Correction At Lightspeed Outdoors, we know you want maximum relaxation time! PVC-Free Air Bed by Lightspeed Outdoors Rest easy knowing you'll enjoy an exceptional night's sleep on the Lightspeed Outdoors Deluxe PVC-Free Air Bed with a patented stabilizing system. Using independent connectors between the top and bottom layers, this air mattress evenly distributes weight to minimize bouncing and movement disturbances between partners. Air bed firmness can be adjusted easily from soft to firm depending on preference, using the included battery-operated pump and built-in Boston valve. High-grade polyester oxford is laminated with TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) to make an air bed that is PVC and phthalate-free. These superior materials combine to minimize the stretch and ballooning that is typical of a PVC air mattress. TPU is known for exceptional durability, with superior abrasion and puncture resistance, to help insure leak-free reliability throughout years of use. Under six pounds, this portable mattress is less than half the weight of most air beds.
It packs small, making it convenient for travel and storage. The air mattress comfortably fits two adults and queen-sized sheets. It comes with built-in handles for easy positioning and an oversized storage bag for frustration-free packing. How is it different than PVC? TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) is a PVC-free and phthalate-free material applicant that is abrasion-resistant. TPU is 40% lighter than traditional PVC air mattresses, more durable, and less prone to stretching or ballooning. Why do stabilizers make for a better night's sleep? The patented stabilizing system distributes weight evenly to keep the surface of the air bed flat throughout the night. The stabilizers connect the top and the bottom of the mattress to minimize bouncing and movement disturbances. Why a Boston valve? The Boston double-valve design makes air bed inflation/deflation easy and allows for adjustable comfort. One cap is used for inflation and deflation. The other cap lets air in but not out, allowing the bed to conform to desirable firmness levels.
Important: Both valves need to be closed tightly to prevent air leaking from the two-part valve.
