A security deposit of $250 will be collected at the time the Barn is reserved to cover any damages to the Barn or its furnishings and/or to cover any additional hours that the Barn is used. And here’s another peek at all the pretty from Dustin Maeno…We wanted a wedding that embodied our fun-loving, laid-back personalities, and that’s exactly what we got. I decided early on that I was going to hire family friends instead of professionals, because I wanted the wedding to have a very personal feel for all of our friends and families. I grew up in a small, south Georgia town and knew that I had to get married there. My husband and I originally wanted an outside wedding, but instead went with a beautiful wooden and brick church.
After choosing the church, a close friend of ours suggested we use the building directly across the street for our reception. Even though I’m from the area, I never knew this building existed but it turned out to be perfect for us. It was an old coke bottling shop that was renovated into a beautiful event venue. I designed and created the save-the-dates and invitations using kraft paper, to give the guests a feel for the atmosphere of the wedding. Instead of hiring a florist, my mom ordered the flowers from a local florist, and I made all of the boutonnieres myself, and had my bridesmaids design their own bouquets. We hired a close friend to help me with all of the centerpieces and church arrangements. My mom found the cake design on a blog and I hired an incredible local baker to recreate it. My parents hired friends of theirs to make their award-winning BBQ ribs and brisket, and we had sides of green beans with feta and bacon, blue cheese macaroni and cheese, and rolls. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to make sure our guests were actually fed!
Our DJ kept everyone on the dance floor all night– my husband and I were the first ones on and the last ones off. Our wedding was perfect from top to bottom, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it. It was full of personal details including our favorite beers, a map of the town, our favorite foods and desserts, bible verses on the tables, and more. From Elizabeth Davis Photography… Michael & Jennifer’s deep south wedding on an elegant, sweeping southern Georgia plantation, Pebble Hill, complete with brilliant live bluegrass band and horse and buggy rides. Groomsmen wore khaki suits with black ties, bridesmaids wore black dresses with bright pink and green bouquets. All of the flowers included miniature succulents. Guest were served specialty cocktails garnished with orange slices as they arrived on the green for the ceremony. The altar was a wrought iron pergola on which glass vases full of pink and white flowers were suspended by ribbon. Centerpieces were tall hurricanes filled with bamboo shoots and pink buds. Tablecloths were white linen draped with burlap. I’m a Southern girl, and if I’ve learned anything from my roots it’s that pearls, big smiles, and a whole lotta love are just about all you need in life. And you know you’ve got a good Southern wedding if it’s got all three of those essentials plus some show-stopping extra details – like a dinner complete with all the fixin’s – that have a charm all their own. Soon after he graduated, we started dating, and it wasn’t long until we knew this was it. Our proposal was nothing less than perfect. I was back home visiting my parents for the weekend to help my sister go wedding dress shopping. I was so bummed because Sam was supposed to work Saturday. Friday night, during dinner, Sam showed up and surprised me!
Down on one knee he went in front of my family, and the rest is history! My sister was married in March of this year, so by helping her plan I began to envision what I wanted my wedding day to be like — southern, romantic and fun, just like us. Went spent a full day touring different plantations in southern Georgia near my hometown. When we arrived at Pebble Hill Plantation in Thomasville, our search was over. From the moss-draped oak trees to the dirt roads leading to the big white plantation house and the ivy-covered courtyard, we both knew that this would be where we would say “I do.” We began discussing what everything would look like, but we never imagined it would turn out to be so perfect. After we picked our location, it was time to plan. Who knew there were so many details in a wedding?! This was my favorite part of planning. Our wedding colors were a classic navy, khaki and white, which gave the whole day a very classy feel. Our menu was as southern as it gets: catfish cakes, chicken salad, pork tenderloin, shrimp and grits, mac-n-cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and our favorite: creamed corn.
