Hosted at the Williamsburg High School of Architecture and Design, TRPL’s first “Get Educated: Youth Empowerment Tour” show was a huge success! November 26th, 2014 was a day to remember. The students piled into the auditorium right after their lunch break to watch some uplifting videos created by TRPL Threat. DSHAW, Buckshot, Philip Hayes, Sue Works and mc/rapper Fresh Co. all took their turns in sharing the microphone to move the crowd in a positive way. Thanksgiving is a time to give and TRPL did nothing short of that. 40 pairs of brand new TRPL shoes were handed out to the highest performing students at @WHSAD. The entire room was filled with eager students wanting to demonstrate their academic achievements. Shoe-throwing, or shoeing, showing the sole of one's shoe or using shoes to insult are forms of protest in many parts of the world. Incidents where shoes were thrown at political figures have taken place in Australia, India, Ireland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Pakistan, the United Kingdom, the United States, and most notably the Arab world. Posters of George W. Bush's face have long appeared through the Middle East with shoes attached to them, and some people have called former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice kundara, meaning "shoe".[3] Shoeing received attention after Muntadhar al-Zaidi threw his shoes at then U.S. President George W. Bush in a 14 December 2008 press conference in Baghdad, Iraq. Since the al-Zaidi incident, copycat incidents in Europe, North America, India, China, Hong Kong, Iran, Turkey[4] and Australia have been reported.
