It seemed to me that the product description made it pretty clear that the product is made for recliners with wooden runners, not metal ones.
Yes, the risers are made of plastic, but it seems to be of a design and strength more than adequate to support the weight of the chair and seated person, and they are close to matching the color of the runners to which they are attached. I was prepared to pre-drill holes for the four screws which secure each riser to the runner, but it was unnecessary as the self-tapping screws went in just fine with a simple ratcheting screwdriver, and the placement of the screws - two horizontally and two vertically in each runner - seemed to be a logical way to permanently secure the risers to the runners. If the product helped save my back getting into and out of my chair, well then the price was fair - I am paying for the idea and the design, not the cost of the raw plastic. The instructions and illustrations for the risers were very clear, but in fairness it took me a couple hours to screw all four on, but that's just me as I'm 81. I can’t imagine doing it in only 15 minutes, as one reviewer claimed.
