Relief from Sleep Pain With Organic Wool Bedding System Surround Ewe™ Sleep SystemsWe’re doing our first ever giveaway here on Rockstar Finance, and if you’ve been in the market for a new bed then today’s your lucky day :) I feel like mattresses are always the things we NEED to upgrade over time but rarely do. Mainly, cuz, you know, it costs money. And there’s “nothing wrong” with our current 15 y/o bed even though the experts would say differently, haha… But it’s true – decrepit mattresses are bad for backs, sleeping, yada yada yada. Anyways, we recently scored a new bed last year that my wife coincidentally won off a blog herself, so instead of me testing out these bad boys from Tuft & Needle, instead I got my good friend Caroline to play around with them to see what she thought. Here’s Caroline’s review below, and then if you’re interested in scoring a free one yourself, you can learn how to enter this giveaway right after. , an upstart company from two guys who hated shopping for mattresses.

With little to go on besides a desire to change the marketplace, they’ve developed a comfortable, affordable mattress that can change your sleep, change your life, and possibly even change the world. I ordered a queen sized, 10-inch mattress, as I had an existing box spring and frame. It arrived fast—I could count the days on one hand. It arrived in a very tall box, and the mattress was vacuum-sealed inside, all wound up. The box was quite heavy—they warn you that it’s about 65 pounds and strongly recommend having two people to carry and open the box. My husband, ever the optimist, went about this task on his own. He managed it quite well until he finished cutting through the plastic wrapping the mattress. When it popped out into its full shape, he found himself pinned to the wall! He did manage to get the mattress properly placed on the bed, but let this be a warning to all. Another fair warning: Because Tuft & Needle ships the mattress to you, you’re responsible for hauling away your old one.

Tuft & Needle recommends contacting the Salvation Army, who will pick up a mattress. The mattress was gorgeous. I could hardly bear to put sheets on it. The foam is soft in texture but provides just the right amount of support when you put weight on it. The first time I sat on the mattress, I groaned aloud; The materials are eco-friendly and gorgeously crafted cotton fibers with a low-VOC polyurethane cover. Both my husband and I have had back problems for many years, which weren’t helped by our sleeping on a 20-year-old spring mattress (I wish I were kidding). We had fantasies of our first night on the Tuft & Needle mattress being our best night of sleep in years. The truth is, switching to any new mattress takes a bit of adjusting. While the new foam mattress felt incomparably better than the old spring thing, we both found ourselves waking up to readjust throughout the night. While I continued to wake up occasionally at night to use the loo or tend to a crying child (for which there is no miraculous mattress cure, sadly), I realized I was no longer waking up every time my husband readjusted his position.

The Tuft & Needle foam adjusted for him but stayed in place on my side of the bed. This was a glorious coup, as it reduced by at least half the number of times I woke up at night. I work from home about once a week. With the new Tuft & Needle mattress, I was able to work from the bed for hours and stay comfortable. I was never able to work from the bed for even an hour with the old spring. The mattress supports my legs and rear end without any tingling or numbness. The first month is crucial, and I think it’s why the company offers an unheard-of 100-day, money-back guarantee. At any point in the first 100 days, you can return your mattress for a full refund. Yes, you read that right. A.full.refund. If your experience is anything like mine, you won’t even consider it. Now at the end of my first month, I rarely awaken throughout the night (child-related awakenings excepted, of course). I used to wake up when my arm went numb from sleeping on my side; that stopped happening after the first 10 days on the new mattress.

I discovered newfound, and profound, joy in sleeping on my stomach with this Tuft & Needle mattress. It provides support in just the right ways, and if I roll over, it doesn’t take a long time for the mattress to re-shape itself. The Tuft & Needle mattress offers a huge improvement in comfort and quality over a standard, spring mattress, for a fraction of the cost. Yes, it costs less than a spring mattress and is significantly less expensive than other foam mattresses. Customer service and support are top-notch—I received regular emails after ordering and receiving my mattress. The 100-day trial simply won’t be found anywhere else, and if for some reason you do return your mattress, the company will still put it to good use. Ninety-five percent of returned mattress are donated to charity. In addition, for every 100 beds they sell, Tuft & Needle donate a bed to underprivileged children who sleep on the floor. There’s just no reason to buy a retail mattress anymore.

Avoid the mark-up and the hassles of returning a mattress you don’t like; Tuft & Needle have changed the way you buy mattresses.
