The World Cup is less than a week away and while the players might be ready, is your living room? We pick some last-minute essentials. 1957 International Youth Games poster Gone are the days when a few Panini stickers on your mum’s fridge showed your mates you were a real fan. If you want to get some footie flavour in your home, these authentic (read: expensive) posters are a great talking point. There are a few to choose from, including this original vintage poster from the third International Youth Games in Moscow. Well, a World Cup one would be too obvious, wouldn’t it? Smeg Retro mini bar fridge (Picture: supplied) Smeg Retro mini bar fridge Like all responsible adults, you’ll doubtless stick to the sparkling water during the match. But where will you keep all that cool refreshing water? In this mini fridge, of course, which is a new addition to the iconic Smeg range. Due to its absorption cooling system, the fridge is totally silent so won’t disturb your enjoyment of the match.

Can store beer as well. The Piggy Bag (Picture: supplied) Forget those Spider-Man bean bags from the market that used to burst after five body slams. This Piggy Bag is an oversized bean bag that can be used as a seat, cushion or even mattress: great for your mates in various states of inebriation. The Piggy Bag comes in all manner of colours but we’ve gone for this multicoloured version as it should match a number of different teams (sort of). Five-a-side football coat hooks (Picture: supplied) Five-a-side football coat hooks Show people straight away how serious you are about your footie with this novelty coat hanger made out of a row of table football players. The good news is the players still move so you can order them into position to take heavier coats and jackets. Football is important but other things are too, such as going to the loo or personal hygiene. Luckily, you can now combine all three – or preferably two – with this waterproof TV set.

As with the waterproof sets you see in top hotels, the swanky 19in Videospa, designed and made in Britain, fits neatly into the bathroom and allows you to have a soak while watching the game. According to its maker, it can even be used in the shower. Parker Knoll Statesman chair recliner (Picture: supplied) Parker Knoll Statesman chair recliner Whether you’re chairman of the club or just king of the living room, you need a proper seat. They don’t get much better than the Statesman. Originally launched in 1960, it went out of production in the early 1990s and had disappeared until this exclusive rerun for John Lewis. It’s supremely comfortable thanks to the ergonomically curved outline and although it’s available in a variety of colours, this deep red is hard to beat. Vintage cool that can’t be overlooked. Rio Dash serving bowl (Picture: supplied) Rio Dash serving bowl While this bowl nods to the World Cup, unlike the cupboard of vuvuzelas you bought last time around you might actually use it again.
