In the irreverent spirit of fun that made The LEGO® Movie a worldwide phenomenon, the self-described leading man of that ensemble—LEGO Batman—stars in his own big-screen adventure. But there are big changes brewing in Gotham City, and if he wants to save the city from The Joker’s hostile takeover, Batman may have to drop the lone vigilante thing, try to work with others and maybe, just maybe, learn to lighten up. Will Arnett reprises his starring role from The LEGO Movie as the voice of LEGO Batman, aka Bruce Wayne. Zach Galifianakis (Muppets Most Wanted, the Hangover films) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s Arrested Development) as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s Daredevil) as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the Harry Potter films) as Alfred. The LEGO® Batman Movie will be directed by Chris McKay, and produced by Dan Lin, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Roy Lee, who worked together on The LEGO Movie. The screenplay is by Seth Grahame-Smith and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers and Jared Stern & John Whittington, story by Seth Grahame-Smith, based on LEGO Construction Toys and based on characters from DC.

Batman was created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger; Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Jill Wilfert, Matthew Ashton, Will Allegra and Brad Lewis serve as executive producers. The new film’s production designer is Grant Freckelton, returning from The LEGO Movie. Also returning is The LEGO Movie editor David Burrows, along with editors Matt Villa, and John Venzon. The music is composed by Lorne Balfe. From Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Animation Group, in association with LEGO System A/S, a Lin Pictures / Lord Miller / Vertigo Entertainment production, The LEGO Batman Movie will open in theaters on February 10, 2017. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. BATMAN and all related characters and elements are trademarks of and © DC Comics. Harness the awesome power of the Master Builders to virtually build extraordinary LEGO creations Enjoy a brand new animation style as seen in the film that simulates the movement of actual LEGO toy sets Your Recently Viewed ItemsIn the last several years, LEGO has given its interpretation of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Batman and The Lord of the Rings. Now in the latest mash-up of movies and building blocks, the toy company’s animation department has put together LEGO Jurassic World: The Indominus Escape that resembles the look and feel of the Jurassic World movie but with a more kid-friendly LEGO twist. The 24-minute animated film is included in the new 2-disc DVD set for Jurassic World. Originally, the short film was broadcast as a 5-part series on the Jurassic World and LEGO YouTube Channels. The boxed set also comes with one additional exclusive 8-minute short. — Dinosaur Stop (@DinosaurStop) October 11, 2016

According to a press release, the Indominus Escape begins when Simon Masrani accidentally crashes his helicopter into one of Jurassic World’s main attractions and it is up to Claire to save the park (again). Together with Dr. Wu’s help, they create the “Indominus Rex: The smartest, biggest, scariest and hot dog-loving hybrid dinosaur ever created.” In the trailer, Wu states that they have always mixed up dinosaur DNA and “nothing has ever gone wrong before.” That’s when dino trainer Owen Grady comes on board to help and finish the battle with “an epic action-packed finale.” Enjoy the trailer for The Indominus Escape below: The story is loosely based on the 2015 Universal blockbuster and told in LEGO-style with lots of humor and little to no real scares. “LEGO versions of movies and various spin-offs are always fun to watch, as LEGO’s humor is funny and enjoyable, and the animation is great,” says The Brick Blogger who has been following the 5-part series.

However, that won’t be the case when Jurassic World 2 comes to theaters in June 2018. The new film, which will begin production in Hawaii early next year, will once again star Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and as far as anyone can guess, will not follow the LEGO storyline nor will it be as child-friendly. “It will be darker and scarier than the previous film,” says J. A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) the new director of the upcoming dino flick as reported by MovieWeb. “Obviously when you have Chris Pratt, it will also be very funny. But it will be darker. It is a second step in a trilogy, and the second step is always dark as in The Empire Strikes Back or the Wrath of Khan, which are the examples you always get. The film takes the story where it has never been before. To me, it surprised me. We are going to places where the saga has never been before, and at the same time we are paying tribute to the franchise. We will take it a step further. There are things that will happen that people are not expecting and they really are shocking.”

Colin Trevorrow, who directed that film, has been putting his energies into writing the sequel’s script with Derek Connolly and has hinted that the new movie will be a parable of sorts about animal abuse and medical experimentation. Other than Pratt and Dallas Howard, no other stars have been confirmed as of yet. [Featured Image by Michael Sohn/AP Images]
