The first episode of the recently announced Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises short series is here, and it’s all about Poe Dameron being dashing, strangely deep-voiced, and a bit of a goofball while he goes on a rescue mission to save Admiral Ackbar from the First Order. Being a Lego short, it’s jam-packed with silliness, but my favorite joke has to be C-3PO constantly drawing attention to his new red arm, and how it’s so mysterious that it’s probably worthy of having its origin uncovered in a book. Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises airs on Disney XD, but thankfully it looks like if you don’t have access to the channel, Disney will be uploading each short to YouTube after it airs.During their presentation at this year’s E3 conference, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced the release of a new “LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens” demo. The Niima Outpost Demo, which is available as a free download, allows players to dive into the action alongside Rey, Finn and BB-8 as they run from the First Order and escape from Jakku.

The demo will also feature a few new features debuting in “The Force Awakens.” Players can engage in Blaster Battles with stormtroopers, explore Star Destroyer wreckage via Multi-Builds and even pilot the Millennium Falcon. The demo is now available exclusively for PlayStation 4 players and can be downloaded via the PlayStation Store. Xbox One players will be able to access the demo via the Xbox Marketplace beginning on June 14 at 3 PM PT. A new trailer for the “LEGO Star Wars” game was also unveiled. The clip, which is narrated with dialogue from the film, contains plenty of LEGO’s trademark jokes and recreates a number of shots from the film with bricks and minifigs. Rey even briefly becomes a fruit ninja on her way to becoming a Jedi! “LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be released on June 28 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS and Steam (Windows PC).LEGO’s Disney XD Star Wars series, The Freemaker Adventures season one is now out on Blu-Ray and DVD!

Keep scrolling for my full review. The Freemaker Adventures is not equal to Star Wars Rebels or The Clone Wars’ storytelling quality, so don’t make the mistake of thinking otherwise. Nor is it strictly canon; I don’t think Emperor Palpatine would ever say something like, “Emperor likey!” But The Freemaker Adventures is not meant to be serious. It’s meant to be a family-friendly, funny show that incorporates the best of two worlds: LEGO and Star Wars. The Blu-Ray set does exactly what is supposed to do. All the episodes are present and accounted for on the set’s two discs. The menu is eye-catching and easy to navigate. But where the home version of The Freemaker Adventures falls short is in the bonus features. The latter are so insignificant, it would have been better not to have any at all.First, there’s the “Meet the Freemaker Family” feature, which promises clips of interviews with the series’ cast members. All the feature is, though, is a compilation of snippets from said interviews and the show introducing the four main characters.

There are no glimpses into production or why the characters’ personalities are the way they are. In total, this feature is only about a couple of minutes long. The second and last bonus feature, “Freemaker Salvage and Repair,” is an in-universe commercial promoting the Freemaker family’s salvage and repair services. The entire video lasts about thirty seconds or so.Now, I realize this Blu-Ray set is for kids. Kids probably don’t care how the production behind the show they watch. But I don’t understand the point of either of the bonus features. In short, they don’t add anything to the set.Presumably, though, if you’re buying The Freemaker Adventures on Blu-Ray, it means you want to watch the episodes and don’t care about bonus features that much. The Blu -Ray set allows you to do that without any hassle. And that’s the main point.More from Dork Side of the ForceStar Wars: Aftermath Trilogy May Explain Origins Of Kylo Ren’s Knights Of RenRead an excerpt from Timothy Zahn’s new novel — Star Wars: ThrawnHarrison Ford and Samuel L. : The Freemaker Adventures Season One on Blu-Ray 4 out of 5 stars. The beloved LEGO and Star Wars brands needed to make “new news” while building anticipation for The Yoda Chronicles Cartoon Network premiere. We tapped into LEGO play between parents and children with an addictive adventure for all. “Secrets to Reveal” would unite families to collaborate, using the power of the force and their own imaginations to reveal the most epic event in LEGO history: an interactive installation of the largest LEGO model ever built, right in the heart of Times Square. A living, breathing, sharable LEGO Star Wars world loved by families Our infinitely shareable campaign moved easily from online spaces to playroom floors to the ultimate LEGO brand experience: Joining with Yoda to reveal the mysterious X-Wing ship in its gigantic glory. Families leapt at opportunities to share their excitement and participation. We kept the engagement high by simultaneously launching the LEGO Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles app for users to solve puzzles and complete challenges with favorite characters.

Witnessed by thousands, but experienced by millions through social media and press coverage, the 3-day live experience saw Twitter trending for #LEGOstarwarsNYC. Global attention for the overall campaign exceeded the wildest expectations, giving LEGO Star Wars more than 8X the brand impressions it had received versus the entire prior year. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens already had an impressive lineup of major characters from the film as well as lesser known creations. Now the game has two more familiar faces: director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy! Kotaku broke the news of Abrams and Kennedy’s debut as playable characters in a brief video. According to the video, both characters can accept missions for the Resistance (even though Abrams breaks a little bad and attacks his fellow good guys in the clip) and command troops while using the grappling hook. Both Abrams and Kennedy use a blaster in battle, although Abrams also has a film camera and he appears to have specific hand gestures.

Because this game pairs players up with a computer controlled partner, it’s possible to bring Abrams and Kennedy together at the same time, and the player can cycle through almost any character at will. However, it’s not currently clear if Abrams or Kennedy recorded any lines for the game. Despite what some outlets have suggested, this is not the first time that the creative team behind a movie or a property have shown up in a LEGO game as playable character. Marvel Comics’ legend, Stan Lee has a sizable role in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, which included original dialogue performed by Lee as well as a character specific “Iron Stan” suit of armor. Aside from the movie camera, it doesn’t appear that Abrams or Kennedy will be getting their own gimmick weapons. Although, is a Lens Flare gun too much to ask for? Are you excited to get a chance to play as Abrams or Kennedy in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Let us know in the comment section below! Image: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
