The kits are great!!So much fun, and a great kickstart for learning programming and robotics! This is absolutely one of the best ways to get kids excited about robotics and creativity. We got this along with the Mindstorms NXT 2.0 set and my daughter absolutely loves it. She is currently 5 and this set is just perfect for her. After helping her with the first one, she was able to just run with all the other projects.The set comes with all the pieces you need to make several different builds. There are a couple different sensors and a motor that can be used to make your builds interactive. Each of the sensors and the motor can be fully controlled and triggered by different programming on the computer, which is also really fun.If your kid loves legos, or building, or robotics, then this is the perfect thing to get them started. LEGO WeDo is a robotics kit designed for younger students. The original WeDo set was released in 2009. WeDo 2.0 was released at the beginning of 2016. The LEGO WeDo 2.0 Core Set (45300) features a programmable SmartHub that connects to a computer or tablet via Bluetooth Low Energy, meaning that there is no longer a need to physically tether creations to a computer (as was required with the original WeDo kit). The SmartHub is powered by 2 AA batteries or a rechargeable battery pack that can be purchased from LEGO Education. The WeDo 2.0 Core Set containts 280 pieces, including a motor, and tilt sensor, and motion sensor. The WeDo 2.0 Software is available for desktops and tablets. Versions for Windows and OS X are can be downloaded for free from LEGO Education Resources Online. Curriculum materials, which are extensive and targeted towards science and computing, are also available from LEGO Education. The original LEGO WeDo Core Set (9580) has 158 pieces, including two sensors (tilt and motion), a motor, and a USB hub.
