(WSAZ) -- The "Pink Ladies" might make you think of the movie "Grease" but some fifth-graders from Putnam County are hoping you will think of robots because of their work. The students from Mountain View Elementary School had a chance to show off their smarts Tuesday evening at the PARTS Open House at the career and technical school. PARTS stands for "Putnam Area Robotics Team." The ladies have created robots out of Legos. The idea is to get students interested in STEM -- which stands for science, technology, math, engineering and math. "It's a lot of fun because there are all kinds of different things like research so if you like researching things or things like that or there is programming. There is all kinds of different things and I really look forward to practice after school," Pink Lady team member Paisley Tabor explained.

The students are taking their technology to the next level at a nationwide competition in California this spring. A high school team also unveiled its new robot Tuesday night.
