I’ve just picked up the Barnes & Noble exclusive edition of The LEGO Batman Movie: The Essential Guide and in it, there are images of some rumored summer 2017 sets that I’ve previously reported on. The first is the Batwing that is said to be released. The book calls this version of the Batwing the “Black Thunder.” Further along in the book in the villains section, we get a look at some of the other sets that were rumored to come out in the summer. The first is Two-Face with his wrecking machine. Next to him is Harley Quinn with her vehicle with a cannon that was going to be a part of the Black Thunder Batwing set. On the next page, we get a look at the Scarecrow Scarecopter. Finally, there’s a look at the Bane bigfig along with his six-wheel vehicle. You can now purchase The LEGO Batman Movie: The Essential Guide over on Amazon but the Barnes & Noble version also includes a poster with it. I’ll review the book in the next few days. The company will launch a new wave of Lego Batman sets based on the movie in June, with the line due to be unveiled in New York's Toy Fair in February. The brick batches each revolve around a villain — Scarecrow, Bane, Two-Face, Harley Quinn — and feature a vehicle as the main play build. Heat Vision has the first look on the set (above and below): Scarecrow Fearful Face-off has Batman take on the Scarecrow and his Gyro-Copter, the latter featuring top and rear spinning rotors, an adjustable rudder, two bomb-drop functions and three translucent-green fear gas bomb elements. The Gyro-Copter measures over 3" (9 cm) high, 5" (13 cm) long and 1” (5 cm) wide;
$14.99 is the price. Bane Toxic Truck Attack features Bane’s 6-by-6 Toxic Truck with a minifigure cockpit, space for a big Bane figure, six big wheels with rear-four-wheel suspension, mounted adjustable six-stud rapid shooter with target-sighting element, and a detachable translucent-green toxic tank element. It also comes with Batman’s Whirly-Bat, which has a minifigure seat, rotating rotor, two adjustable Batwings and two wheels. The Toxic Truck measures over 4" (11 cm) high, 6" (17 cm) long and 3" (9 cm) wide. The set, which some with Batman and Mutant Leader minifigs along with Bane, will sell for $49.99 Two-Face Double Demolition will have you doing a double take with an excavator that has a "good-and-bad-side" design, minifigure cabin, removable roof and opening weapon storage compartment with a pistol, four huge wheels (two with spikes on the "bad" side), operational excavator arm and bucket, articulated design for smooth steering, six-stud rapid shooter, rotor blade and rear storage compartment.
But that’s not all: The set also comes with a Batcycle that has two big wheels, an opening minifigure cockpit with translucent-yellow windshield and Batwing doors, rotating double stud shooter and rotating flick missile shooter. The numbers: the excavator is over 4" (12 cm) high, 11" (29 cm) long and 5" (15 cm) wide and the Batcycle measures over 1" (5 cm) high, 5" (14 cm) long and 2" (7 cm) wide. The set comes with Batman, Two-Face and two GCPD officers minifigures, and will sell for $59.99. While there have been plenty of Lego Batmobiles over the years, The Batwing has had fewer chances to fly with the devil in the pale moonlight. But this one is no joke. It features an opening dual minifigure cockpit with translucent-yellow windshield, rotating boosters, adjustable wings for flight and landing modes, two spring-loaded shooters, two disc shooters, opening rear compartment with a small car (with a minifigure seat) inside, and translucent light-style elements. Harley Quinn is the villain in this set and her weapon of choice is a cannon with a six-stud rapid shooter and two wheels.
The Batwing measures over 5" (15 cm) high, 12" (31 cm) long and 18" (48 cm) wide in flight mode, and over 3" (9 cm) high, 12" (31 cm) long and 20" (53 cm) wide in landing mode. The set, which of course comes with Batman and Robin minifigures, retails for $89.99. Lego is also introducing a Batwave of BrickHeadz, the company’s stylized take on heroes that involves an oversize head and big eyes. (It first teased the line at 2016's Comic-Con.) The sets include Batman, Batgirl, Robin and the Joker and will sell for $9.99. The BrickHeadz hit shelves in March. The Lego Batman movie hits theaters Feb. 10.LEGO Batman DC Super Heroes 76001 The Bat vs. Bane: Tumbler Chase New In BoxA lot of things look good about The Lego Batman Movie—whether it’s the film itself or the Lego sets. But I think my favorite thing about it is this new Bane “mini” figure that’s actually hulking, and it’s spine-tinglingly brilliant. Lego has unveiled a new batch of toy sets based on next month’s Batman movie, and they’re just as fun the first wave of sets that came out at the start of the year.
Up top is the “Bane Toxic Truck Attack” one, which is $50. It comes with a big ol’ truck for Bane and, amazingly, the mutant leader from The Dark Knight Returns, some toxic waste to play with, and, also amazingly, Batman and a “Whirly-Bat” vehicle that’s sort of a cross between a tiny helicopter and a Batman-themed Segway. But seriously though, look at that Bane figure. Lego’s done other plus-sized figures like this, such as the Hulk—or even larger things like Star Wars’ rancor—but this is absolutely the best way to capture a Venomed-up, bulky Bane that’s ready to do unpleasant chiropractic acts to anyone near him. The other sets include the $15 “Scarecrow Fearful Faceoff,” which gives Scarecrow a suitably spooky helicopter to drop fear bombs on top of Batman: Then there’s the $60 “Two Face Double Demolition” set, about which I need to tell you absolutely nothing, other than the fact it contains an official Billy Dee Williams Two-Face minifigure, which a) is only the second best Billy Dee Williams Lego minifigure released so far this year because this exists, and b), makes this set totally worth buying at any cost
