Mattress Insider has opened up a tiny 200 sq ft custom mattress showroom in Denver Colorado near I-25 & Evans (click here to schedule an appointment).
What is a tiny mattress showroom? It's probably best if we show you a picture and then explain the concept. If you've watched HGTV or have surfed the internet in the wee hours of the morning (I know we're guilty...all the time), you may have come across a new style of home that is sweeping the nation by storm. It's called the Tiny Home (aka Tiny House). Just like the name sounds, a tiny home is just that. A very small house that has everything you need to be comfortable, but without the expense of your average home. Mattress Insider has simply taken the "tiny home" concept of packing a lot into a tiny space, and applied it to a mattress showroom. To our knowledge, it's the first and only "tiny mattress showroom" of it's kind in the country. Why open a tiny showroom? Why not just open a regular showroom? We have people asking us a on a regular basis where they can see our beds. However, up until now, it hasn't been feasible to open up a showroom. Well, most mattress stores have high rent costs, long term leases, require multiple employees to staff, & costly sinage (i.e. that $3000 lit up "mattress store" sign on the roof).
All of those things would have caused us to raise our prices. Not only that, but Mattress Insider's focus is mainly on odd & custom size mattresses which only account for about 1% of the total mattress segment. It doesn't really make sense to setup a big showroom to display custom size mattresses. So, how did we get around all that? We setup an "unmanned" 200 SQ showroom in a corner office executive suite (with windows!) near I-25 & Evans in Denver, Colorado. What do you mean by unmanned? Yes, it sounds crazy, but it's just like it sounds. Unmanned means we don't have Mattress Insider employees in the showroom. We want to keep your prices low, so we've done everything we can to keep the overhead minimal. Plus, isn't it nice to finally NOT have a salesperson hovering over your shoulder trying to sell you something? So...there is really nobody at the showroom?Being that the showroom is located in an executive office suite , there is a receptionist that we share with other businesses on the same floor.
The two receptionists normally working are named Starla and Kathy (only when Starla has stepped away). They both know absolutely nothing about mattresses so I wouldn't bother asking them. If you do, they'll just tell you to call us. What Starla or Kathy will do is confirm that you have an appointment to see the tiny showroom. If you do (an appointment is required), they'll walk you back to the showroom, unlock the door, and let you in. When you're done looking at the models (or placing an order using the phone in the room or the ordering station), the receptionist will escort you back to the lobby. Lucky us...one of our customer service managers happens to be an interior decorator on the side. So he's done a great job of making the space inviting as you can see from this panoramic photo (pretty curtains, nice paint job, picture frames, etc). We have our 5 most popular models (soon to be 6) on 30" x 80" bed frames (that's half the size of a queen) and also 7 mini samples sitting on a display rack.
