IKEA has recalled a beach chair sold in the UK because it poses a risk to customers. The Swedish furniture giant has asked customers who bought any model of the Mysingso beach chair to return it for a full refund as part of a global recall. IKEA said that those using the chairs risk falling or finger entrapment The Ikea chair is no longer on sale in the UK The company received five reports – from Finland, Germany, the US, Denmark and Australia – of people receiving injuries to their fingers that needed medical treatment. In a statement, Ikea said the chair – which is no longer on sale in the UK – posed a risk to users of falling or finger entrapment. He's knot the messiah... 'MONEY WON'T MAKE UP FOR LOSS' It said: “After washing the fabric seat it is possible to re-assemble the chair incorrectly leading to risks of falls or finger entrapments.
“Ikea has received five incident reports in which a Mysingso beach chair collapsed during use due to incorrect re-assembly. All five reports included injuries to fingers and required medical attention.” It added that a full investigation led to an improved design “to further mitigate the risks of incorrect re-assembly and injuries” and the updated chair would be available from next month.
