We have done that with rafts and others beach accessories that did not cost much and were too big to bring back. It may cost more to bring back than what its worth, depending on what it is. On the occasions that we have purchased beach chairs, we look for someone who would really appreciate one (usually an older person) we give it to them and they have been very grateful - you never know someone one day may do the same for you on your next visit.
Another option that we go for now is to hire a beach umbrella and two lounge chairs (Yellow umbrellas) they cost between $20 to $25.00 for 4 hours and they set it all up for you...we usually go from 8am to 12 midday so you are not getting too much hot sun, shower and then off to the shops.We have also done this when we are there for the Halloween dress-ups, kids are particularly grateful I have no idea.
