We'll be staying at the Marriott Wailea in late March, and are interested in renting beach chairs and umbrellas. I realize that Marriott has nothing for their guests, but have read on older posts that non-Four Seasons guests can rent chairs and umbrellas on the beach in front of the four seasons. I always assumed that this amenity was run by the four seasons - but maybe it is an independent vendor? Has anyone done this recently? And if so, what is the daily charge for 2 chairs and an umbrella for 2 people? There are no "independent vendors" on any beach in Maui. You certainly can ask the 4 Seasons if you can rent. Another option and a cheaper one would be to rent chairs and an umbrella at Shorkel Bob's. Just watch the wind with the umbrella. I have seen many take off down the beach!! One destination mentioned in this post Sorry , this isn't an answer to your question but more of a general umbrella inquiry. Has anyone used one of the "screw-into-the-ground" umbrella anchors that I have seen advertised to keep an umbrella from blowing away?
I was thinking of bringing one if they're successful, then renting an umbrella from Snorkel Bob's as MsFuzz suggested. One attraction mentioned in this post Ranked of 13 Tours in Wailea MS Fuzz are you sure? At least in kaanapali I have rented chairs and umbrellas from an activity stand in whalers village. I thought they were independent. The activity stand is affiliated with either the condo or hotel or activity company. There are limits on what or who can have a commercial company on a public beach. Otherwise anyone could make a buck on the beach!! The screw in type of umbrella holder works really well. I own one and use it all the time. The umbrella will break from the wind before these things come out of the sand!!I'm talking directly on the beach. The stands at Whalers Village pay a pretty penny to rent those stands. Yeah- I really didn't want to have to deal with the cheaper variety that you have to stick in yourself.
I've had them turn into projectiles way too many times! I guess we'll just wait and see what's there. what snorkle, fin, mask as well as umbrella beach chairs are available on kauai I think its best to just buy beach chairs at Costco for $25 - most likely a lot cheaper than renting. Donate when leaving the island. I agree with the last post! There's so many chairs and umbrellas that you can just buy yourself. It's more cost efficent, and you can move them around to whatever beach you decide to go to for the day. I have never seen an independent vendor renting chairs or umbrellas right on the beach, only places similar to snorkel bob's where you go and pick them up yourselves. The Four Seasons had a very limited amount of chairs last I saw, so I'd be surprised if they still did this. I can't see it being a reasonable price though, as you know the resorts tend to gouge you on things like that.
