When families in need of medical care come to HealthBridge Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, they can expect to experience: A loving and nurturing environment where the staff treats every child and family as if they were their own. The finest acute specialty pediatric medical care provided by a top-notch multidisciplinary team of medical and allied health professionals. A unique physician-led medical treatment plan designed specifically for each patient. Specialty treatment programs that are among a select few offered in the country. Private child-friendly rooms that are supervised 24 hours a day by our registered nurses (RNs), licensed vocational nurses (LVNs), respiratory therapists (RTs), and certified nursing assistants (CNAs). A sense of intimacy not evident in traditional children's hospital settings. Upon arrival, families are greeted by inviting common areas such as the front parlor TV room, the family dining area, and the front porch furnished with rocking chairs that are perfect for relaxing while enjoying a view of the setting sun.




A children’s hospital that considers family involvement an important part of the recovery process and encourages family involvement. An open door policy that encourages communication between the HealthBridge team and our families.Our hospital has a playground, an activity room filled with arts and craft supplies, games, puzzles, video games, movies and more. Our full-time recreation staff and child life specialists often arrange special activities including pet therapy, music activities, and visits from local heroes. During An Inpatient Stay Our inpatient services and programs offer a highly specialized plan of care for every child. Prior to arrival, our inpatient families are teamed up with a nurse liaison who will help prepare and coordinate the transition of the patient to our hospital. ScheduleEach child’s schedule is unique and dictated by the recommendations from the lead physician with the nursing, therapy, and allied health team. A typical schedule includes six to eight hours of rehabilitation and therapy a day, plus meals, extracurricular activities, and time to rest.




Visiting HoursRegular visiting hours: 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. We encourage regular wake and sleep cycles and discourage visits in the middle of the night. One parent may choose to stay in the room each night with their child. The hospital does not have a cafeteria for visitors. However, the hospital provides three meals per day for one parent. Additionally, vending machines, coffee, and a refrigerator for food storage are available 24 hours a day, and a microwave oven and toaster are available for use in the dining room. What to BringHere is a list of suggestions on what families should bring for their child: Items that will help the child to feel more at home: A special pillow or blanket, stuffed animal,  toy, book or special item. Some family photos or photos of friends. A favorite movie or music. VCRs and radios are available at the hospital. Headphones for listening to personal electronic devices. Clothing: Our HealthBridge patients are dressed daily as part of their rehabilitation process.




The nurses and therapists will advise you about the types of clothing that will work best for your child based on his or her specific medical needs. Coat or jacket, sweater or sweatshirt (as seasonally appropriate) Basic toiletries: deodorant, body wash, toothbrush and toothpaste A copy of the child’s immunization records Length of StayThe exact length of stay is different for each child and is based upon the child’s individual medical needs. A team of healthcare professionals will meet weekly to discuss the child’s progress towards discharge goals. We consider family members an integral part of the treatment team and encourage participation in the decision making process at these weekly meetings. Once a discharge plan is established, the treatment team works to meet the discharge goals. During an Outpatient Visit Our outpatient services provide families with a continuum of care. The lead physician along with the nursing, therapy, and allied health team will determine the timing and length of a session. 




We encourage parents to discuss the child’s goals for the sessions and for home with the health team. Punctual attendance is appreciated to maximize the session and to keep our hospital’s outpatient treatment schedule running on time. Our admissions team at HealthBridge Children’s Hospital works closely with referring hospitals to ensure that the admission process is efficient. Nurse liaisons and admission coordinators assist in our referral and admission process. During services, your child will be in the care of several trained volunteers, all of whom meet required background standards. Each Sunday our Comfort Room is open for mom’s who desire to care for their infant while watching the service. This room provides a changing table and rocking chairs for your comfort and the care of your child.




Nursery (6 weeks to 18 months) and Preschool (19 months – Pre-K) Our nursery and preschool rooms provide a safe and fun atmosphere to learn about God. Our Nursery is for infants ages 6 weeks to 18 months. Our loving and qualified team will care for your child, sing and play with them as they experience the love of God. Preschool is for children 19 months to PreK age. Our goal is to encourage preschoolers in a growing, loving relationship with Jesus Christ and others in an atmosphere where they feel a sense of belonging. We present biblical learning materials with a hands-on approach to help establish in the hearts of the children an active faith toward God and His Word. Our qualified, trained and loving team is comprised of volunteers who serve on a rotation basis. Preschool is a class where the children are loved, have an opportunity to participate in age-appropriate worship, learn a Biblical concept, prepare a craft, receive a snack/water and have fun.
