Especially for those who love knick knacks and bright pops of color. I for sure fall in that latter camp. But every single time I spot a Scandinavian style home, I’m all on board. The neutral tones and serene, uncluttered spaces are a total dream. Amy Carrillo knows exactly how to design just such a space. Check out her latest addition to the Scandinavian Team of Allstars with even more shot by The Love Studio in the VAULT. Hope and Luke wanted to keep the look uncluttered and inviting.

On their must-have list was a “reading nook”. We scored an awesome Scandinavian-style rocker on Kijiji which goes perfectly with a modern light fixture and some favourite art on the wall. We framed one of Hope’s beautiful black and white drawings paired with an abstract watercolour print from Minted. The coffee tables black base adds a nice geometric element to the space. The sectional is SUPER comfy! Hope and Luke knew they wanted a sleek silhouette for their sectional so we opted for a refined style in a beautiful light grey fabric. The sectionals low back also helps make the space feel more open since the entrance opens up to that space. The 2 handmade throw pillows are from a favourite Toronto shop called Bookhou. We added a vintage milk stool and patterned rug to add some character to the space. Luke really wanted to have a photo of a pineapple in the entryway as it’s a symbol of welcome, friendship and hospitality. Paired with a black and white photo from their wedding, it’s a cute way to say hello to guests! Since most of their home is white, we wanted to create an inviting nook in the dining area. We created a black accent wall and hung a piece of driftwood to add some texture and interest to the space. Since it’s a rather small space, we opted for an extendable table and a bench which is great for entertaining.

To warm up the grey and white kitchen, we brought in some wooden accessories as well as some mango wood stools to help ground the space. Hope wanted a little vanity area so we tucked it into the corner by the window, which is perfect by the natural light. The white shelf and chair almost blend into the wall so it doesn’t take up too much visual space. We introduced some darker, bolder colors on Luke’s side of the bed which consists of a handsome vintage desk that we used as a side table (thank you Door Number Two!)and an indigo rug to add some pattern. We turned this blank space into a relaxed, Scandinavian-inspired abode filled with art and local finds.
