Made my first steamed chocolate chip pudding yesterday, it turned out awesome. Was very moist and yummy, followed CS recipe booklet and all turned out well. My husband who had been to England and has eaten many steamed puddings said " it was just like the ones over there", he was very impressed. In 1942,, my mother made a Cranberry Pudding, which really isn't a pudding and have never made, due ti the cooking procedure. Today, I am going to make it in this mold and know it will turn out great. I'm not really into cooking or baking but this Pudding Cake Molds encourage me to try and it is easy to use and the recipe booklet included is easy to follow. ...they won't have this! I tested out his choc steamy cake with the small pot (halved ingredients) and it was great. I took his advice and made it ahead of time when I had the time and reheated it when I wanted to serve it.
It takes time to cook in the pot on the stovetop, that is true, but if you need oven space for something else cooking, this frees up oven space. It is not just for cake, there are other fun things in the recipe book that don't require cooking such as cheese molds, Ice cream bombes (for baked Alaska), panna cotta molds, etc.. I don't see why you couldn't make a jello mold in this too. In fact, I am Italian-American and am going to make Struffoli (honey balls) inside this mold for Cmas. Once it's inverted on plate, just add a handful more of honeyballs on top to make it more pointy--now you have a Struffoli Cmas tree. Let your imagination be your guide, and have fun with this. No directions or recipes were included.......really need as I wanted to use during holidays !I baked a carrot cake came out perfect without sticking. Used it for the first time yesterday. Pudding came out perfectly! Nice weight, not flimsy. Bought as a thank-you gift for my niece to thank her for hosting Thanksgiving dinner.
