Is it hard for me to walk around Floriade? Floriade is located on a four-hectare site. The circuit around Floriade is approx 1.6km and contains some loose granite pathways. Please wear sensible footwear and take all necessary precautions to prevent injury to yourself or those in your party. I have limited mobility – where do I park? Free parking for people with limited mobility is available adjacent to the Regatta Point entrance (access off Commonwealth Ave). Parking is limited and vehicles must display an authorized disability permit. Can I bring a wheelchair, electric scooter or stroller to Floriade?




Floriade is accessible to wheelchairs, electric scooters and strollers. Floriade has minimal stairs. Display marquees and markets in Floriade are all at ground level. Most marquees are fixed with accessible ramps. Accessible toilet facilities are also available across the event site. Paths are wide enough to accommodate pedestrians, wheelchairs, electric scooters and strollers. Be aware there are some loose gravel pathways and there may be water on pathways after rain. Can I hire a wheelchair, electric scooter or stroller? A limited number of wheelchairs, walking frames, electric scooters, and strollers are available for hire from the Wheelchair Marquee located inside the Regatta Point entrance. Hire fees are $15 for electric scooters for a maximum period of 3 hours and $10 for wheelchairs for a maximum period of 3 hours. Strollers, walking frames are $5 for 3 hours. Bookings can be made by phoning the Wheelchair Marquee on 0450 962 245. We will need your name, contact phone number, the number of wheelchairs, electric scooters and/or strollers required and the date and preferred time for the booking.




It is possible to hire and book on the day at the Wheelchair Hire Marquee, however priority is given to previous bookings. Can I ride my bicycle to Floriade? For your convenience, bicycle racks are located at the Parkes Way and Regatta Point entrance to Floriade. Make sure you bring your own chain and lock, as bicycles and tricycles must be left at the gate. Can I take my bike or trike inside Floriade? In the interest of public safety, all forms of bicycles and tricycles, including hand-propelled tricycles, are not permitted within the grounds of Floriade. Bicycle racks are provided at the Parkes Way and Regatta Point entrances. You must provide your own lock and chain. Provision can be made for tricycles to be stored at any of the entry gates, however Floriade takes no responsibility for theft or damage. For your convenience, strollers can be hired for $5 for three hours from the Wheelchair Hire Marquee located at the Regatta Point entrance. Can I take my skateboard, rollerblades and scooter inside Floriade?




In the interest of public safety, skateboards, scooters and rollerblades/skates are not permitted within the gates of Floriade. Can I bring my guide dog? Registered guide dogs and companion dogs are allowed into the Floriade grounds with their owners. Documentation for these animals is required upon entry. Does Floriade offer onsite tours? Floriade offers a limited number of mini-bus tours through the Floriade grounds for nursing homes and community groups on weekdays only. The nursing home or community group must provide their own bus and driver. Bookings are essential, so please contact Event Operations on 02 6205 0663. Are first aid services available? In the case of an emergency or for first aid, please notify a Floriade team member. First aid services are available at all times at Floriade. Floriade staff are easily recognised by their Floriade uniforms – volunteers wear red, while event staff wear charcoal. Where can I get information while I’m at Floriade?




For information on entertainment and activities, horticultural workshops and more, visit the Information Marquee located adjacent to the Regatta Point entrance to Floriade. You can also ask one of the Floriade volunteers, identifiable by their Floriade uniforms. How can I best protect myself from the sun? Make sure the whole family has fun at Floriade by being SunSmart this year. Simple things like wearing sun protective clothing, SPF 30+ broad spectrum sunscreen, a hat and sunnies can all contribute towards a great day out. Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) levels can still be very high in spring, so take extra care by checking today’s forecasted UV levels in advance. When UV levels reach 3 and above sun protection is recommended. There is plenty of shade at Floriade, particularly around the Stage 88 lawns so it’s easy to take extra care between 10.00am and 2.00pm. And don’t worry if you leave something at home because sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are all available for sale at Floriade every day.




What if I lose something? Lost property can be registered and, if found, collected from the Floriade Information Marquee throughout Floriade. After Floriade 2016 closed on 16 October. Until 16 November 2016 you can enquire about lost property by phoning (02) 6205 0666. Any items not claimed by the 16 November 2016 will be donated to charity. Can I bring my pet? In the interest of health and public safety, dogs (other than guide dogs with official documentation) and other animals are not permitted at Floriade. Where does Floriade get its water from? Events ACT is committed to ensuring responsible water usage and management for Floriade. Floriade’s main water supply for the gardens is provided from Lake Burley Griffin by agreement with the National Capital Authority. Can I get food and drink at Floriade? The Vista Cafe — Enjoy a glass of wine and the fabulous a la carte menu while sitting on the verandah overlooking the stunning Floriade garden displays.




Café Sol — Set on the edge of beautiful Nerang Pool, this cafe is a wonderful place to enjoy a glass of wine and a meal. Takeaway outlets — A selection of food, coffee and refreshments are available in various locations around the Floriade site. Streets Ice Cream — Streets ice cream vendors will be located throughout the park to satisfy your sweet cravings. Snacks and other goodies — Choose from roasted nuts, nougats, chocolates, special curry mixes and much more from the Floriade Village. Can I hold a function at Floriade? Floriade can accommodate your catered or uncatered function. Floriade, Australia’s biggest celebration of spring, is in its 30th season and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Floriade is a family friendly event and is moving towards becoming smoke-free within its boundaries at Commonwealth Park. Floriade has many places where smoking is not allowed. Smoking is prohibited by law in our marquees, dining areas, Cafe Valenti and Butterfly Lounge.




As part of Floriade’s move to become a smoke-free event, we kindly ask that you respect other patrons and not smoke in signposted areas or areas frequented by children such as the Kid’s Corner, Carnival Stage and Stage 88. Dogs will be permitted at Floriade on Saturday 15 Oct only, providing: All dogs remain on a leash at all times Dogs and owners remain on designated paths and do not enter any garden bed at any time Dogs do not enter any indoor venue or food outlet As per ACT law, all waste is disposed of responsibly Dogs only enter the park during opening hours of Dogs’ Day Out.
