Aetmix DreamAespa (Korean: 에스파; RR: eseupa; MR: esŭp'a, commonly stylized in all lowercase or æspa) is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. The group consists of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning. They debuted on November 17, 2020, with the single, "Black Mamba". Their name comes from the amalgamation of 'æ' which comes from 'Avatar X Experience' & 'aspect'. The meaning behind the name is a variety of innovative activities that will be present with the theme 'Gaining new world experiences through meeting 'avatars' and 'other you'.
𝗔𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗔 made their debut on KBS2's Music Bank by performing the single "Black Mamba". The MV for this song managed to reach 100 million views in just 2 months, Toppers. This song also ranked number one on the billboard of the largest music streaming service in China, namely QQ Music for three consecutive weeks. AESPA won their first award on SBS Inkigayo on January 17, 2021. One month later, AESPA released a remake of singer Yoo Young-Jin's song "Forever".
In May 2021, AESPA also released an energetic hip-hop dance single with the title “Next Level”. Thanks to its popularity, AESPA also signed a contract with the Creative Artists Agency for their activities in the United States, you know. Now AESPA already has a mini album released on October 5, 2021 called “Savage” which contains six songs, including the single with the same title. As an active and popular girl group, AESPA continues to maintain its prestige. In December, they will be releasing a cover of S.E.S.'s "Dreams Come True". The music video for the song was directed by Lucid colour, choreographed by BoA, and featured original holographic butterflies and wings seen in S.E.S' video. The song peaked at number 17 on the Gaon Digital Chart and at number 7 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart. On December 26, members Karina and Winter were revealed as members of upcoming supergroup Got the Beat. The group debuted with the single Step Back on January 3, 2022.
Aespa getting a lot of attention from K-pop lovers since it first debuted. Even though it's a new group, in fact two of Aespa's MVs have been watched more than 100 million times. No wonder they are dubbed 'monster rookie'.
