I was diagnosed 8 months ago and have been on monthly shots ever since. While I improved slightly after starting the injections, I am still very symptomatic. I fall asleep at work, have TERRIBLE memory problems, etc. I insisted that my GP re-test my levels last week and they were still very low. As a result, she changed my treatment plan to 2 shots a month. After doing tons of research, I am concerned that 2x/month won'tAlmost all treatment guidelines I've read (CDC, NIH, Mayo Clinic, Hopkins, etc.) suggest daily and/or weekly shots until levels come up to normal. I insisted that my doctor refer me to a specialist, so I have an appointment to see a hematologist.

However, as a new patient, they would not schedule me for several weeks. Has anyone else struggled with their doctor in this way? How can I educate her and get her to work with me? Since you cannot overdose on B12 and the consequences for not having enough can be severe and/or permanent, I do not understand the reticence to prescribe me more to put my treatment more in line with the standard. I did a bunch of searching and realized that you can buy a 30mL bottle of injectable B12 from Amazon. There are 14 reviews, overwhelmingly positive, and several by PA sufferers. It also happens to cost way less per dose than the vials I get from the pharmacy, I think because it's being sold in "bulk." What do you guys think? am running out of ideas. Hopefully the hematologist will get me on track once I get in to see him. I would discuss it with your pharmacist and ask if there's any danger with that. If you don't want to ask face to face, just call them. I've been thinking about it myself.

That's a really good idea. I will ask my pharmacist and let you know what he says.If anyone has tried buying B12 online, please share your experience If there are any weight loss clinics where you live, you could probably just walk in and ask for a B12 shot and they would give it to you. In the clinics I've been to, B12 was offered to their patients just because it's good for you. I sometimes got them there, long before I was diagnosed with PA. I hate the thought of you being miserable and made to wait weeks to see another doctor. That is just so wrong. I would be afraid to buy online, but talking to your pharmacist about it is a good idea.Best of luck to you. Looking forward to hearing what you find out. I've begged my husband for b12 for months just to try, he's a farmer and injects sickly cattle and cows that recently gave birth to give them energy. Of course I've begged jokingly....but on the edge of seriousness! but it would be great if we could have a supply on hand

I asked my pharmacist today and she strongly advised AGAINST getting injectable B12 online. She said that most of it offered that way is either regulated poorly or not at all. Her concern was that B12 from these types of sources cannot be guaranteed to be pure, safe, non-contaminated, etc. My mother, who is an RN and an ex-boyfriend who is a doctor all agreed with this assessment. I still plan to ask the hematologist when I see him next week, but expect a similar response. I am still curious if anyone has tried it. If my health is on the line and my doctors won't cooperate by prescribing more than 2 shots/month, I may still consider taking my chances with this stuff just until I can get my levels into the normal range. I don't understand why your doctor won't just give it to you when you can just go to a weight loss clinic every week and get one. It's not a big deal. I hope you find some relief soon. Good luck to you.One more thing---when I was first diagnosed, I was also told to come in once a month for injections.

After doing some research online and deciding one shot a month was NOT enough for me because my B12 level was so low, I quickly found another doctor. She had no problem with me getting a shot weekly and wrote me a prescription for a bottle of B12.Post edited by: mec79007, at: 08/04/2013 09:44 AMPost edited by: mec79007, at: 08/04/2013 09:45 AM Share this page with your friends: Sold by Wonder Laboratories and Fulfilled by Amazon.DetailsDoctor's Best High Absorption Coq10 w/ BioPerine (100 mg), 120 Soft gels ( FREE Shipping on orders over . You may have heard it over your years, Doctors giving your mom, dad, brother, aunt or friend B12 injection to fight anemia, generally poor health and to increase energy levels. Well now you can get that same boost from Sublingual B12 in tablet form. Produced, Packaged and Sold by Wonder Laboratories, OUR ADVANCED B-12 is specially formulated with methylcobalamin Vitamin B-12.

Methylcobalamin is a type of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 comes in several kinds including hydroxy-, cyano-, and adenosyl-, but only the methyl form is also used in the central nervous system. Deficiency states are fairly common and vitamin B12 deficiency mimics many other disease states of a neurological or psychological kind, and it causes anemia. Cyanocobalamin (the cheapest to produce and the kind in most vitamin supplements) is converted by the liver into methylcobalamin but not in therapeutically significant amounts. Vitamin B12 deficiency is caused by a wide range of factors including low gastric acidity (common in older people,) use of acid blockers or excessive laxative use, lack of intrinsic factor, poor absorption from the intestines, lack of Calcium, heavy metal toxicity, or excessive Vitamin B12 degradation. If you are anemic, elderly, have digestive disorders, or vegetarian you may have an immediate need for supplemental Vitamin B12. Shipping Weight: 1.6 ounces (View shipping rates and policies)
