As extreme sports continue to evolve so does their sought after style.  From collaborations with Disney®, to putting together the nation’s leading action sports and music festival; they’ve held their place as innovators. In 1975, the Vans Era™ was designed by professional skateboarders Tony Alva and Stacey Peralta to be a top choice in footwear because of its colorful canvas uppers and stellar grip. Emerging trends brought us the Vans Classics Slip-On™, Sk8-HI™ and Chukka Boots, which cemented the idea that their brand would leave its mark on pop culture and the world. Expanding these elements into performance gear for BMX, snowboarding, surfing and motocross, just to name a few;

they have created edgy apparel and accessories rich with technology and fashion. Quality jackets, soft tees and flowy dresses, set Vans apart from the competition. Threading together their enthusiasm for creating fresh new styles at the heart of youth culture made for men, women and kids; Vans promotes individuality and motivates us to define who we are and where we want to be. Posted: Mar 12, 2017 These are an absolute classic. Living in southern California, these pair well with any kind of pants or shorts. There is not a whole lot of support, so you may want to get the Pro versions if your feet need that. Go true to size and you'll have a good time. I love Vans Authentics pretty much the only shoe I wear the new ones with more cushion are a real relief to my heels!! I purchased these for my 14 year old granddaughter as this is now the "in" shoe to wear. She said they were comfortable. I ordered her regular size shoe and they were a good fit. Since I'm not the one wearing the shoes, I cannot provide much more other than they are cute on her 14 year old feet.

As the California brand marks its 50th anniversary, Footwear News looks back at 10 of Vans’ most iconic kicks. This style was Vans’ first deck shoe and has since been embraced by professional skaters for its durability and grip. The Era style was designed by pro skaters Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. It was also the shoe that launched the “Off the Wall” logo. The iconic slip-on rose to fame after being worn by Sean Penn’s surfer character Jeff Spicoli in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.” The Old Skool sneaker debuted the brand’s now-signature Jazz Stripe — a design that began as a random doodle by founder Paul Van Doren. The signature Sk8-Hi was born with a on new performance functions, like a higher silhouette shielding ankles from injuries. As more technical flip-tricks burst onto the scene, skaters began flipping the collar of their shoes down — thus, a lower half-cab style emerged. Designed in collaboration with the Vans amateur skate team in 2006, the Chukka Low is now available in a variety of customizable finishes.
