This chapter takes place in the kingdom of Erebor. The story mode walkthrough covers everything needed to get through the chapter. All Collectible locations are details in the Free Play Walkthrough farther down the page, even though some items may be accessible in the story play through. After the opening scene, head down the stairs to the right and on down to the large door with the statues. Destroy both statues then build a block with the pieces. Switch to Thrain and use his hammer to smash the block. Head through the newly opened door, then follow the stairs down and around to the guarded door. Smash a hole in the wall to the left of the guards, then pick up the rock on the ground and throw it at the statue way up above the door. Once the guards are busy eating, head through the door. In the next room, jump up on the crates to the right of the barred door, and jump and grab one side of the weighted arm. Stay there and switch to the other character and have them jump and grab the other side to open the door.

Move into the new room to find the first Crafting spot. The characters will need to collect Loot to use at the anvil to craft a key to open the next door. With the exception of the gold, all the necessary loot can be acquired by smashing up the carts with the colored gems in them. To get the gold, go through the dwarf hatch to the left of the locked door, and turn the crank to stop the flow of molten gold. Hop back down to the collect the gold. Head over to the anvil and trade in the loot to play the minigame to make the key. In the next room there is a hooded gentleman who is apparently too lazy to walk a few feet to his left and grab a flute off a table, so our heroes will need to that for him. Pick up the flute and hand it to him and enjoy the happy dance that ensues. Now switch to his character, and mine the three piles of ore on the ground in front of him; this is a minigame that requires pressing the button when the indicator is as close to the middle as possible. Hit it dead center on the first or second pass to get as much as possible and end the minigame.

Once the ore has been mined and the loot has been gathered, build a crafting table in front of the platform with the barrel on it. If the characters have the right loot to build, do so, otherwise smash some more things up and collect the loot needed. Turning in all the loot will launch a Lego build Minigame. Look for the flashing pieces in the picture on the right and choose the corresponding piece in the wheel on the left. Do it quickly and correctly to get a large stud bonus. When the new contraption has been built, jump into one of the barrels on it and mine the ore on the side of the cliff until a cut scene launches showing that they've the Arkenstone. After the cut scene ends, make use of the save statue and switch into the new character here who's holding a handy "flail" that can be used to grapple onto gold rings like the one on the front of the rubble that's blocking the path. Next up, switch the character's weapon to an axe, and use it to smash the cracked plate on the front of the next set of rubble.

Now for the next even bigger cracked plate, two of the characters will need to Buddy Up to break it. Stand next to another character and press the correct button, then press attack to launch a powerful beatdown. Use the flail to pull down the last bit of rubble, then head down the stairs. Buddy up again to break the large cracked plate then head down the rest of the stairs to the large door where another cut scene awaits. After the cut scene head towards the door where some falling debris will smash a hole in the floor. Bust up the debris to the right and use it to build a large block. Have someone grab the giant hammer to the left of the door, and use it to smash the block to open the entrance to Smaug's treasure room. Go down to the bottom of the ramp and use the flail to pull down the large gold statue. Climb over the fallen statue, then bust up all the stuff over there and use it to build a bridge. Hop onto the green platform. On the first green platform, use the flail to grab a hook under the overhanging green piece, and create a chain to swing across with.
