As a tie-in with the “Nature Connects” exhibit of a half-a-million LEGO bricks sculptures of giant flowers, birds, insects and more, “The LEGO Movie” will be shown from 8 to 10 p.m. on the Rose Garden Terrace. The exhibit ends on Sept. 18. And from 5 to 9:30 p.m. it is also Pokémon GO Night, with lures set in the Garden, which hosts over 20 Pokéstops, two gyms, and lots of Pokémon.

The water and grassland ecosystem at the Garden attracts many Pokémon, including some rare ones, and the summer events around the popular game have increased visitation. “Pokémondays and Pokémon Go Night at Flowers After 5 have increased visitation not just during those events, but they have also encouraged more people to join the Garden as members,” said Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator Jonah Holland. “For August, in particular, we’ve nearly doubled our typical Monday visitation over the rolling average from the past three years,” said Holland. “Pokémon Go is a great way for us to introduce new audiences to the Garden and for garden members to have a reason to visit more often. “We’re passionate about connecting people and plants, including older teenagers and young adults who we’ve spotted playing with both their friends and their parents,” she added. “It’s been inspiring to see so many people of all ages enjoying the garden this summer.”

This coming Monday, Labor Day, all visitors to the Garden receive free admission 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Genworth Free Community Day. The Garden has series of additional PokéMondays planned for the fall.  Details and dates will be announced soon.
