Connect with us on Facebook! On one of the happiest days of their lives some brides in Nebraska and Iowa have been frustrated by a company paid to make their wedding reception special. Six On Your Side has learned that one of the event specialists is facing federal fraud charges for another business venture. Mike McKnight talks to her attorney who says his client has a right to make a living. After paying almost $300 for a reception backdrop, newlywed Stacy Brewer says The Event Specialists dropped the ball. "They never showed at all, never called," Brewer said. Central Iowa bride Vannessa Larson has a complaint against The Event Specialists specialist paid to provide a tent and chairs. "She emailed me and did not call me, so if I didn't check my email until later I would have never known I wasn't going to receive my rentals," said Larson. The attorney for The Event Specialists, Steve Lefler said unexpected rental rate increases for chairs and tables and other reception equipment caught the company off guard.

"We do feel bad for the couple of people that at the eleventh hour got a phone call and while they should be enjoying themselves they now have to scramble to get tables and tents. But it won't be the first or last time a business had a hiccups like this," said Lefler. Lefler says the company is owned by a relative of his client Patricia Urbanovsky. "She is an employee for the company," he said. Urbanovsky has pleaded not guilty in Federal Court to selling hundreds of worthless airline vouchers though her now defunct company called Creative Creations. But several brides said they didn't realize that's who set up their wedding reception rentals through the new company, The Event Specialists. "She was the one who contacted me a couple of days before the wedding as Tricia Hoffman," said Brewer. Lefler says Urbanovski is going by her married name. But he said she's closely monitored by pretrial services at Federal Court. The coordinator of that program can''t comment on how that's going.
