At Discovering Ireland Vacation, we are often asked about the differences in Bed-Sizes between Ireland and other countries, in particular the USA. Naturally, people who are accustomed to a certain type of bed, like to know what to expect on Ireland Vacations. Not only is there a difference in the size of beds but there is also a very distinct difference in the terminology used on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. For example, a Kingsize bed in Ireland or the UK approximates to a Queensize bed in the USA. A considerably different bed!!! The table below outlines the sizes of beds, the associated name in Ireland, and the approximate equivalent in North America. If you have a particular preference, then please ask your guide at time of booking to ensure your satisfaction. The terminology relating to room types can also cause confusion. When you stay at a hotel, B&B or Self catering vacations rental in Ireland, the following definitions apply to room types: 4-Cylinder Turbocharged Diesel Engine

6-Cylinder Turbocharged Diesel Engine 7-Speed Automatic 7G-TRONIC Transmission 6-Cylinder 4x4 Diesel Engine Effortlessly combining the benefits of two-stage turbocharged power, 265 lb-ft of torque, diesel fuel economy and durability in one compact package, the impressive 4-cylinder powertrain with 7-speed 7G-TRONIC transmission offers you up to 18%2 greater fuel efficiency, standard on all Sprinter Van models. Offering 325 lb-ft of turbocharged torque across a broad rpm range, the 6-cylinder diesel engine/5-speed automatic transmission option delivers greater horsepower. With peak torque coming in at a low rpm, the V6 engine gives you ample pulling power when the light turns green, when merging onto a highway, and especially under a load - precisely when it matters most. Refined for maximum efficiency, a quick-shifting 7-speed automatic transmission delivers lower fuel consumption, reduced noise, and longer service life. Helping you tackle challenging road and weather conditions, on-demand all-wheel drive technology helps maintain stability and control with electronically controlled adaptive torque distribution to all four wheels - letting you hit the road with confidence.

BlueEFFICIENCY is the term encompassing all the fuel-saving and emission-reducing efforts Mercedes-Benz uses on the Sprinter Van, powertrain and ancillary components, allowing the 2-stage turbo 4-cylinder diesel engine to meet and exceed the most stringent emission standards. Load-Adaptive Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) Standard on all Sprinter Van models, this innovative feature takes the vehicle load and center of gravity into account, automatically braking individual wheels and reducing engine power to stabilize the vehicle if wheelspin, understeer or oversteer is detected.8 Continuing our heritage as the industry's safety leaders, the Sprinter Van introduces Crosswind Assist3 as a new standard feature on Sprinter Van. At speeds over 50 mph, gentle, course-correcting brake application quickly intervenes to stabilize your Sprinter Van in strong, gusting crosswinds. Highbeam Assist takes the annoyance of constantly switching between high and low beams out of your driving experience, automatically switching the high beams on and off depending upon traffic ahead and oncoming vehicles.

Lane Keeping Assist uses a multifunction camera in the windshield to recognize unintentional drifting out of lane, sending a visible and audible signal to the driver when lane departure is detected. Blind Spot Assist uses radar sensors to monitor the surroundings of your Sprinter Van. If the system detects another vehicle alongside, visual notifications are triggered in the side view mirrors to prevent you from potentially dangerous lane changes, an audible warning further helps to alert the driver. Collision Prevention Assist enhances driving safety by helping you to avoid rear-end collisions with vehicles ahead. PARKTRONIC warns of a possible collision when maneuvering in confined spaces, providing parking assistance when you need it most. An available back-up camera allows you to view rear obstacles and people on the standard 5.8" head unit, helping you safely reverse while maneuvering and parking. While, it can seem daunting, there is a method to pillow sizing and we are here to demystify pillow sizes for you. Pillows vary in size and shape to accommodate personal preferences in look and feel. Different pillow sizes can offer more comfort when you sleep by varying the volume of fill. They also vary to fit different sized beds and pillow cases. Choosing the right pillow doesn’t have to be complicated. Just keep a few things in mind and you will be sure to pick the right size every time. Pillows come in a variety of sizes, mostly to match bed sizes. The Super Standard – most often called Standard/Queen or Jumbo – provides retailers an option in between the small and medium size so they can carry more styles of pillows on their wall.

Our Pillow Sizes Chart below shows the most common sizes for each type of pillow but keep in mind that sizes can vary greatly so be sure to look at the size if you need something specific. Double DownAround® Firm Pillow It might sound simple to just buy a king pillow for a king bed but actually, you can use any or all size pillows on a king sized bed. A good rule of thumb is to match the pillow size to your bed size but from there, you can get creative. While there are fewer options for a Queen or Full sized bed, there are hundreds of pillow combinations so don’t hold back if you find something else you like. Here are a few classics to get you started finding your own style: Euro Square Pillow Insert Best Fit!® Sheet Set Luxury White Goose Down Comforter Two Super Standard, Two 26" or 24" Euro Square California King (72") Bed Three 24" Euro Square, Two King, Two Standard, One Accent There are two sizes of bed pillow cases: Standard and King.

Standard size is designed to fit three pillow sizes: Standard, Super Standard and Queen. Fortunately, sheet manufacturers accommodate all the different manufacturer’s variations when sizing their cases and will err on the larger side so our worst case scenario is the pillow case will have more room than less. Some sleepers – usually side and stomach sleepers– like to mold and squish their pillow up, even several times a night, so that it keeps its loft and softness and conforms around their head. These sleepers often find that a king sized pillow or even a queen sized pillow has too much volume and prefer a Standard or Super Standard size. Other sleepers like a pillow over their head to shield themselves from light and noise. These sleepers need a light, conforming pillow and would probably not choose a king or queen size for this use. A softer pillow, such as one with an all-down or down alternative fill (maybe one that is getting retired), would work well. SuperLoft™ All Down Pillow

Super Standard or Standard Pillow Size: These sizes are really the best for sleeping and what we recommend first. The downside to a long pillow is that the fill can migrate to the ends more easily and they are less ‘squishable’ having more volume as discussed above. Some sleepers prefer a shorter pillow because they like the compactness. These sizes also save money so those that don’t really have a preference may choose the less expensive option. Queen Pillow Size: The Queen pillow is a good choice for someone who tosses and turns because it gives you lots of room on each side of your head. As well, a large pillow can feel luxurious and contribute to a retreat-like feel in your bedroom. King Pillow Size: King pillows were designed for the extra width of a King or California King bed but they are great for a twin bed if your sleeper tosses and turns. They also make a good back support pillow for reading or working on a laptop in bed. A king pillow can also work as a shorter body pillow.
