Module IIS Web CoreAlex Hull envisioned a leather and suede sofa for Gallery Fumi as part of its exhibit at art and design fair PAD London 2012. Earlier this 2013, the designer also created the Split Chair, which perfectly adds up to the furniture series.
The pieces are dynamic, interesting to observe from every standpoint and particularly elegant. The concept that stood at the basis of the project is described by the designer as follows: “A balancing, visually light organic structure was inspired by the wave’s movement and the composite surfboard construction. Continuous leather form splits open to reveal a more delicate and tactile suede interior, as if it has been torn apart. The asymmetrical sofa bends and curves, echoing and hugging the human body, allowing its occupier to sit or lie down in it, using the outstretched arm as a chaise longue head rest”. Yelp users haven’t asked any questions yet about Haynes Furniture. One family radically changed the way Virginians acquired home furnishings. Their vision: to build Virginia's biggest furniture store and to revolutionize the furniture industry. Thanks to the Strelitz family, Virginians can peruse an abundant 300,000 square feet filled with gorgeous furniture. Come see for yourself today! Haynes Furniture has evolved through entrepreneurial innovation and a commitment to the people of Virginia. In 1930, Ellis Strelitz purchased a small furniture store in Norfolk from L.D. Haynes. Joined by his son and his younger brother, Mr. Strelitz set out to build Virginia's biggest furniture store and to revolutionize the furniture industry. In the late 1950's, the Strelitz brothers, now President and Executive Vice President of Haynes Furniture, moved the business to downtown Norfolk, and also acquired a small furniture store in Suffolk which became the second branch of Haynes Furniture.
In the seventies, the Strelitz family radically changed the way Virginians acquired home furnishings. They realized that people want the biggest selection to choose from as well as the lowest price possible. The sofa is designed in a highly organic form which appears to be split apart. The whole form is made in leather and the inside is suede lined, so the exterior of the object is all-natural stylish leather while the interiors are soft and very tactile as if the leather is being parted to reveal an unprotected core. alexalexhullarmchairchaircouchfurniturefurniture challengehullsofa Email or usernamePassword Remember MeUsernameEmailPasswordBy registering you confirm, that you accept our Terms of Use, Content and Privacy Policy.
