Three of us are travelling to Vegas (from the UK) in December for 9 nights. We've booked a Junior Suite at the Signature, which we understand means there'll be one king bed and one sofa bed. Has anyone actually slept on the sofa bed in these suites? I'm guessing that muggins here will end up on the sofa so I'm just wondering how comfortable it'll be (especially given that it'll be for 9 nights!) Any opinions gratefully received. has some great photos and descriptions. The sofa opens to a queen size bed.What a lovely website! how was sleeping on the sofa bed? i'm heading out there in october and one of us couples has to take the couch and i'd like to make sure their comfortable.
We had a one bedroom with the same pull out and my dad took the queen sofa bed. He found it very comfortable. I had my 80 year old mother in law on it two of the last three years... I'm still married, so she must've not been too bothered by it. My Mum and Auntie shared a room while we were there and my Mum took the sofa bed and said it was incredibly comfortable. So much so it didn't even feel like a sofa bed. I've slept on them. I would not call it "incredibly comfortable." But it was certainlly much more comfortable than my in-laws pull-out with a metal bar in my back. Think of it this way... no problems for sleeping on it. But it's not the kind of bed you'll want to lie down on during the day just because it feels so good. I actually slept on the sofa bed at Signature for two nights last year. So far, our best bet for lodging in terms of sleeping five comfortably in any combination of rooms seems to be a 2-bedroom penthouse suite at the Vdara.
However, this will mean one of us has to sleep on the pull-out sofabed. In the TA hotel reviews, I have found several complaints about the sofabed being really, really awful. Can anyone confirm or deny this? I certainly don't expect a sofabed to be as comfortable as a high-end mattress, but I'm in charge of organizing this trip and will never hear the end of if it's really so bad that someone can't sleep all night. (And, I will be grumpy if it's me!) I should probably add that we are open to suggestions. We definitely want to be on or within easy walking distance of the strip. Because there are five of us, from what I can find it seems that our options are either three regular hotel rooms or this suite at the Vdara. Three rooms isn't an ideal solution because then there's the complication of who gets a room to herself and does that person have to pay double what the others pay, etc., etc. (Women!!!) But, if anyone knows of a better solution than Vdara, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
btw, have you ever considered two rooms with two queen beds in each room? this way, in room 1 with the 2 queen beds you can have 2 people; then in room 2 with the 2 queen beds again you can sleep 3 people which means there will be one queen bed to be shared by 2 people. provided, these 2 people do not mind sharing one queen bed? i have never stayed at the vdara but considered staying there last summer but because i had read multiple reviews about the thin mattress on the pull out sofa at vdara being so uncomfortable that we changed our reservation to the MGM Signature where the pull out was slightly more comfortable. 5 people in 1 hotel suite and one who sleep on the sofa is not my idea of comfortable. me and everyone else would rather have their own space and the rooms are cheap enough in vegas o do just that. " I should probably add that we are open to suggestions' 5 people in an average 1600 sq ft American home is congested and you want to put 5 in one room, LOL
Book two connecting rooms in another hotel. Thank you for the suggestions, but the Vdara suite isn't one room. It's two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a living area with sofabed. It's over 1300 square feet, so I'm sure there will be plenty of space for a few nights. I'm not worried about square footage, I'm worried about the comfort (or lack thereof) of the sofa bed. The problem with two adjoining hotel rooms is that they would only sleep four, and we have five! If the hotel would allow a cot, that would be a possibility, but I'm not sure a cot is going to be all that comfortable either. It's the uneven number of people that is the problem! The five of us were college roommates who lived with two additional people for two years, so we were a total of seven, and we get together annually, sometimes sharing beds and always sharing rooms, so we're pretty used to staying together. I actually kind of like the idea of five separate rooms, but some of the others feel they'd rather not stay separately since the point is to spend time together.
Oops, Cliu, I didn't see your reply before I responded. Yes, two rooms with two queens is a possibility, as long as I'm not one of the people who has to share a queen! (A king, okay, but not a queen!) You must have read the same Vdara reviews I read about the sofabed. I keep wondering whether I could put a featherbed in my luggage. I'll take a look at the MGM Signature and see what options they have. I should add that, while we are currently all non-smokers, the other four really hate cigarette smoke. (As the only former smoker, I still like getting a whiff now and then.) So, a hotel without a casino has some appeal for that reason. Even hotels with casinos have non-smoking rooms. These are usually non-smoking floors, not just rooms. I don't think you'll have any smoke smell in your room - I never have. I would't let that influence your decision. The really key, I guess, is that you want five comfy beds and also want everyone to pay the same amount and still feel like the cost and beds are distributed fairly.
That's quite a challenge. No sofa bed or rollaway bed is as comfy as a real bed. OTOH, you're right about getting three rooms. Someone gets a room to themselves. We stayed in one of the MGM King Executive Suites last year and it had a connecting room. If you got one of those with a connected queen room, plus another queen room, everyone would have a bed. Plus you would have a nice large area for everyone to meet. Someone gets the King Suite, but they also have to put up with everyone coming to their room. If you ask, the hotel will bring up a mattress topper for the sofa bed, which makes it much more tolerable. The Review is on Tripadvisor – check out hotel reviews and search for sofa bed. As a sofa its fine but when pulled out to a bed the mattress is so cheap and nasty that you can feel every single spring through it, Its so bad can't even put into words how poor it is, there is no way you can sleep on it as it is so I called reception and they brought a mattress topper up which helped solve the spring issue slightly but then when laying on the bed I could feel the metal bar from the frame through my back. Looking back now I should have just just slept on the floor. I did complain to reception and one of the room managers (I think thats what he was) but all I was offered was to pay for an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite which was way too expensive. After I put the phone down to reception she called back about 10 mins later offering me a $50.00 refund which was fine but I would have paid more than double that just to have a good nights sleep and a pain free back for 5 days. I was also told that all the aofa beds were exactly the same. So don't bank on using the sofa bed as a bed - if you need 2 beds I would go to a hotel that has twin rooms so you don't have to pay a fortune at the Vdara for a 2 bed suite.
2. The shower was very weak, nice bathroom and the shower looked lovely and was spacious but unfortunately the shower itself was all mouth and no trousers. 3. No crockery in the room - we had 2 coffee mugs and that was it. Not even teaspoons to stir your drink with. Very strange for a suite with a nice kitchen area. Its a real shame that these few things let the hotel down and if had just been the crockery and shower I would have probably scored a "very good" but for me sleep is the most important thing about a hotel and this is why I scored a "poor". I cannot understand for one minute why they would settle for such poor sofa beds in what is such a nice hotel. Room Tip: Don't pay extra for a corner suite, I actually thought the Vdara suite felt bigger.
