But they were still functioning as bi-fold doors. Bi-fold doors are a great space saver in hallways or for laundry rooms, but not necessary in a bedroom. I wanted them to function as French doors.  Super easy to do! The doors were installed as usual in the outer corners. (My doors only have an upper track, the bottom is held in place with a bracket in the corners on the floor – no slider on the floor.) Remove plastic that keeps the door on track from the upper inner corner. (The upper outer one near the wall will stay in the original track, remove the other top inner plastic.) Mine look like this: Magnetic cupboard door kit: Install metal cupboard door hardware (the ‘catch’ piece) onto the track itself, so it hangs down to meet where the magnetic piece is going to be placed on the actual door. Attach the other piece of the magnetic cupboard door hardware to the door itself, making sure that it lines up with the metal piece on the track so it will catch and stay closed.

(Mark and drill pilot holes first.) Stop the folding action by using mending plates: Three on each door near the top, in the middle and on the bottom. Now the doors don’t fold anymore – but can be easily turned back to bi-fold doors. Permanent for only as long as you want them to be permanent. Door knobs are from Hobby Lobby (1/2 off of $5.99 each!!!) “S” hooks make belts/scarves and accessories easy to find. {Don’t you hate forgetting what you actually do own because you can’t see it or find it?} Now – Let’s see your latest DIY project! <” /albums/ac195/Roeshel/DIYShowOffbuttonsmall.jpg” />

Common functions include providing privacy and reducing noise between two rooms or floors, and separating living space from closet storage. Interior doors are available in many standard widths and heights as well as custom dimensions. Find your Interior Door in 3 Easy Steps 1  Choose the Type There are four types of interior doors: hinge, bypass (sliding), bifold and pocket. Hinge doors make ideal passage doors as they open easily from either room, and can support the inward or outward swing of a standard or oversized door.

Hinges can reside on either the left or right side of the door to accommodate the functionality of both rooms. Single hinge doors are most commonly used for bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens, however double hinge doors are becoming increasingly popular and add grandeur to a master bedroom or formal dining room. VIEW ALL PREHUNG INTERIOR DOORS Bypass door units have two or more standard-size interior doors, which are hung on rollers from a track and open from side to side. Sliding doors are popular for closet applications because they save on swing space, and mirrored finishes can make small rooms appear larger and reflect light for a brighter look. VIEW ALL SLIDING INTERIOR DOORS Bifold doors have one or two pairs of doors that fold in half to open, and are ideal for closets in smaller rooms. They slide on a track and are secured with pivots in the top and bottom corners. The doors are hinged together in the middle to maximize the functional closet opening without interfering with traffic.

A single pair of bifold doors generally accommodates up to a 36" opening, while two pairs support openings from 48" to 72". VIEW ALL BIFOLD INTERIOR DOORS Pocket doors are similar to bypassing door units, except that pocket doors roll back into the wall to appear virtually invisible when open. 2  Choose the Style Interior doors come in louvre, French, moulded (panel) and flush styles with either solid or hollow cores. Moulded interior doors are offered in wood-grain and smooth finishes, and flush doors are available in a variety of pre-finished hardboard and unfinished hardwood patterns. Louvre doors help ventilate closets and improve air circulation between rooms, while French doors allow natural light to cascade from room to room. Hollow core doors are made with interwoven corrugated hollow cells that support the outer face of the door; they are lightweight and ideal for low-traffic areas. Solid core doors are constructed from particleboard or fibre core materials, giving them solid weight that helps reduce noise.

All door styles are available as prehung (which includes the jamb and frame) or as slab (which includes just the door itself); most doors are enclosed in jambs that frame the opening. 3  Choose the Material Features real wood grains Composite wood construction for higher durability Primed and ready for painting Installation Considerations for Interior Doors To ensure proper installation, first determine the required door swing and handle placement. Regardless of whether the door swings away from you or toward you, if the handle is on the left side, it is a right-hand door and, if the handle is on the right, it's a left-hand door. Replacement doors should have the same measurements as old doors. When purchasing doors for a new area, measure the width of the doorway at the top, middle and bottom and use the smallest measurement. To determine a rough opening size, add 2-1/2" to the width and 2" to the height Available in 1-3/8" and 1-3/4" thicknesses
