Can anyone tell me about how much the fold up loungers You know those plastic type you find on the beaches) are at Kmart? What about the regular cloth beach chairs that sit low to the ground with the high back (do not need to fold out flat). I am assuming about the same as here in the states, but wondered if some of you wonderful STT folks can give me a better idea? Hmm, I noticed some of those folding chairs with the beverage holder built-in at KMart the other day. I think they were $13.99. Most items here are a bit more expensive, because of the extra ocean freight. If I notice others, I'll re-post. I've also seen (and bought in the past) the folding chairs - but the lounges are a whole different ballgame. I recently went looking all over the place for them and couldn't find anything foldable at all so ended up buying online. If you don't have any luck with the loungers, pick up a Neat Sheet. Easily packable, very lightweight and they work like a charm. Is there more than one K-Mart and is it convenient to the east end?
The "Big KMart" is in Tutu Park Mall off Rte 38 and the "Little KMart" is in the Havensight area not far from the West Indian Co cruise ship dock. The Tutu store is closer to the East end. One destination mentioned in this post We brought beach chairs last November and it was the best thing we did. I didn't want to take the time and go looking for them and knowing that we would be to beaches that we would either have to rent or sit on a towel, we decided to take them. It was $15.00 to put them on as luggage and my husband used zip ties to tie them together. They were the full lounget type chairs, but they are our favorit "Rio" chairs. It worked out great and we just left them at the condo we rented for the next people to use. We were going to buy new ones anyway for this summer. The TuTu store is where we plan to go as we plan to shop at Plaza Extra at the same time. We will go to KMart first and pick up whatever we can there and then go to Plaza Extra for the rest of our groceries.
Thank you for clarification on the K-Marts. I'm all for trying to save money but does anyone know what happens to these beach chairs after they're left on the islands? Yes, you can leave them for the next occupants, but I'm sure that the cleaning crew have strict instructions as to what should or should not be in the accommodation. Is it possible the chairs get thrown out with the garbage and becomes additional items for the landfill? Are you sure they are going to be used over and over again? These islands have enough garbage of their own without tourists contributing to it. Use a towel or blanket, or rent the chairs. This is YOUR planet. Do you really think I was breaking any rules or thought about this before we went down? And by the way, I informed the owner we were bringing them down.
Talk to people that don't recycle, or don't pick up their cigarette butts or trash on the beach, because that's not us. We pick up other peoples trash. If I went to STT and went out and bought beach chairs, do you think I would take them home? It is my planet and I take care of my trash and others. itsconnie, thanks for your response. I have been determining how to respond to the rant. I come on these boards to provide info or to request info, not to have anyone get on their high horse and give me a lecture on what I should and should not do. bostongirl - seriously, if you don't want to respond to my question, then don't, but I did not ask, nor do I want your opinion on what I should or should not do. We are very careful in the islands or anywhere else about picking up behind ourselves. I seriously doubt buying a couple loungers is going to cause the island to die. So take your opinion somewhere else, when I want it I will ask, otherwise, simply answer my question as I attempt to do when someone requests info that I know the answer to.
