Many announcements are requested, but only emergency situations can be addressed through PA announcements in Vaught-Hemingway. To properly address these situations, U.P.D. is responsible for determining the level of importance of any requested announcement. Southeastern Conference rules do not permit artificial noise-makers to be brought into or used in the stadium. Anyone found violating this policy is subject to ejection.




The SEC implemented this rule in order to prevent the distraction of the participants and officials in the game. Backpacks or any bag larger than 12″ x 12″ x 12″ are not allowed into Vaught-Hemingway. Ole Miss is following the advice of security officials who have designated backpacks and large bags as a security risk.  Also, the searching of backpacks would contribute to longer lines for security checks at gates. Ole Miss recommends the use of clear bags smaller than 8 ½” by 11” (1 per person) for carrying items into Vaught-Hemingway. Banners and signs larger than 8.5″ x 11″ may not be brought into Vaught-Hemingway. Banners and signs in Vaught-Hemingway can obstruct the view of other fans. Also, Ole Miss must ensure that it protects corporate sponsors regarding signage in Vaught-Hemingway. The possession or consumption of alcohol in the general seating areas of Vaught-Hemingway is expressly prohibited by University policy. Stadium personnel and law enforcement officials will enforce this policy.




In an effort to encourage an enjoyable experience for all fans in Vaught-Hemingway, persons who are intoxicated or who are in possession of alcohol will be removed from the stadium. Cameras are permitted inside Vaught-Hemingway for both fans and working news media. All photos taken in Vaught-Hemingway must be for editorial or personal use only and cannot be used for commercial purposes. The sale of images with current student-athletes is against NCAA rules and can risk the eligibility of Ole Miss student-athletes. Additionally, any commercial use of photos of Vaught-Hemingway, campus landmarks or identifiable campus elements is prohibited without the prior written approval of the University. Anyone leaving the stadium must have an unused/un-scanned ticket to return to the stadium. Once a ticket has been scanned or the stub removed, it may not be used again for re-entry, unless otherwise directed by Ole Miss officials in emergency situations. SEC rules prohibit “Pass Out Checks” from being issued.




The University of Mississippi is a smoke free campus. Smoking is prohibited at all times, and at all locations of the Oxford campus, including University-owned facilities, properties and grounds. In 2012, the University announced the Oxford campus as smoke free. The throwing of objects from the stands is strictly prohibited and is cause for immediate ejection. Also, fans may not go onto the playing field at anytime before, during, or after games. Thrown objects can cause serious injury. Ole Miss takes very seriously the safety of fans, coaches, athletes, and officials. Ole Miss will act promptly and accordingly if the safety of any individual is in jeopardy. Visitors to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium may be subject to search.  Security cameras are also used in the stadium and by entering the stadium, you consent to this recording. With heightened security now a way of life, Ole Miss will do everything possible to provide a secure environment for its fans. Please be cooperative with our security officials during your visit to Vaught-Hemingway.




They are there for your safety. Ole Miss encourages fans to arrive early and to bring as few personal items into the stadium as possible. Any portable seat that impedes on the comfort and enjoyment of a fan in an adjacent seat (in front, behind, or to the side) is prohibited. Wide stadium seats can overlap into the seat of the fan next to you. Any stadium seat measuring 16 inches wide or less will fit into any seat in Vaught-Hemingway. All seats with arm rests are prohibited. Please be aware that some seats larger than 16” (including seats with Ole Miss logos) are sold outside the stadium because fans use these for other purposes other than Ole Miss sporting events. Television rights as negotiated by the Southeastern Conference dictate starting times for all Ole Miss home games. As a member of the Southeastern Conference, Ole Miss is obligated to cooperate with the league office in setting the start times for television. for the most up-to-date starting times for Ole Miss football games.




For the comfort and safety of all Rebel fans, please follow these guidelines for items brought into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. All persons, over the age of 12 months, must present a ticket for admission to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. This policy is for the convenience and safety of all ticket holders. Even the smallest of fans sitting on their parents’ lap can be an inconvenience to the fan sitting in the next seat and a safety risk for the child. Umbrellas are not allowed in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Umbrellas are a sight obstruction for other fans, and can be a safety hazard. Ole Miss advises the use of ponchos or other wearable rain gear for inclement weather. Once admitted to the stadium , no ticker holder shall be permitted to leave and re-enter the facility on that ticket.In the event of inclement weather, home team game management shall have the authority to waive this policy. Fans should be advised that the public address announcer will alert fans as to the waiving of this policy once a decision is made.




Off-Campus Shuttles Weather Policy In the event that the National Weather Service in Memphis issues a severe weather warning pre or post game, the Oxford game day shuttles will suspend service on pickups and drop offs until the warning is lifted by the National Weather Service. This is for the protection and safety of our staff, the riders, and shuttle drivers. In the event The University of Mississippi institutes a weather delay during the football game, shuttle service will be suspended until the weather delay is lifted by the University. Riders are advised to seek shelter in a campus building, or remain in the stadium under cover. This policy is being instituted for the protection of the shuttle patrons to prevent them from being exposed to hazardous weather conditions while waiting to leave campus back to the shuttle sites. The same policy will apply pregame to the Double Decker buses running from the square to campus. Video cameras are not permitted in Vaught-Hemingway Stadium except for the working news media.
