product Ovestin is 15 times stronger than some other creams I can't see that anywhere - ovestin 0.01% estriol is 10 x stronger than gynest 0.1% estriol, but the applicators are smaller. So they are probably the same.
Ha this just proves my point which I wrote about in the other thread about shortages talking to @over50andfab. You are the second poster on this forum who has been given gel instead of Ovestin though the other one was told to insert in her vagina.
So was here a while ago asking about estriol cream for my temperamental urethra - finally got it today from a nice GP. I've seen a urologist who said I had urinary retention probably because my urethra was a bit "old & scarred" (I'm 47 😳) and am having to wait ages for the pre-cystoscopy scans.
Ovestin , otherwise known as Estriol (which is the drug it contains) is a Hormone Replacement Therapy that comes in the form of a vaginal cream . Ovestin is an oestrogen-only HRT. When you stop having periods your levels of oestrogen drop causing a number of symptoms, one of those is vaginal dryness.
I had a pack of this at home but as Ovestin seemed to be keeping things at bay decided to continue with this. How are you using the vagifem? It's 14 days every day then at least twice a week for life. I don't use it- use Ovestin cream - but I've used it constantly for 12 years. Sometimes I'm a bit lax with it and drop down to once a week or even every 10 days so the symtoms come back so I up it to a week or so daily.
Ovestin - the small tube of cream - is for vaginal use only, twice a week. Oestrogel- large canister of 64 applications- is for use on your arms or legs as part of systemic HRT, used only with a progestogen if you have not had a hysterectomy. It is possible your GP has prescribed the incorrect item.
I saw a gynaecologist last week who gave me some ovestin cream to try as I'm having some problems with hormones (im not menopausal just messed hormones!) and I have constant vaginal pain which only seems to subside a few days before and during my period.
If you would like to try Estriol cream , then you should look for it at the official website. It is also available at many online stores (Amazon, GNC, Walmart etc) where it costs about $40 per bottle. My Final Summary. According to the customers' reviews Estriol cream is not the best solution if you suffer from the menopause negative effects ...
OVESTIN cream contains the natural female hormone, oestriol. This cream contains the hormone Estriol which is a naturally occurring oestrogen. Ovestin is used by post-menopausal women to relieve local symptoms of the vulva & vagina such as dryness and inflammation of the skin layer.
