Can anyone identify these Lego pieces? They were given to us in a bin of toys, and we cannot identify them. We know they're Lego, and have a 2002 date on them. Those appear to be Bionicle figures, a theme that was active from 2001 to 2009 (and making a comeback in 2015, I hear). The line focused on buildable "action figures" (aka "constraction figures"). The yellow one is the Glatorian-era Mata Nui, the red one with the staff is a Toa Nuva-era Rahkshi (Turahk, to be specific), and the green spider-thing is a Toa Hordika-era Visorak (Keelerak) that has been placed upside-down. The other four are Metru Nui Matoran, without their masks; the lighting makes it hard to tell what elements they correspond to, but the ice one appears to have the wrong head. Can't post other links due to reputation; Browse other questions tagged set-identification bionicle or ask your own question. There hasn’t been any news on any upcoming 2015 sets but that has been turned totally upside-side today.

Although this list is just purely speculation, comments on Eurobricks notes that the site that the list is from is pretty reliable. This list also gives some credibility to a rumor a few weeks ago (which we did not report on) saying that LEGO BIONICLE may be making a comeback in the near future. Defender of Jungle (70778) Defender of Stone (70779) Defender of Water (70780) Defender of Land (70781) Defender of Ice (70782) Defender of Fire (70783) Lewa – Master of Jungle (70784) Pohatu – Master of Stone (70785) Gali – Master of Water (70786) Tahu – Master of Fire (70787) Kopaka – Master of Ice (70788) Onua – Master of Land (70789) Lord of Skull Spiders (70790) The list above is a rough translation and is not the final set names if indeed LEGO BIONICLE is making a comeback. I know absolutely nothing about BIONICLE but fans of the theme may have some context of what these sets are about. Leave your comments below and let us know what you think of these rumored sets.

LEGO’s Bionicle theme has been among the longest running proprietary themes LEGO’s ever developed. Bionicle started in 2001, where it was one of the most original toys to hit the market during my childhood. I still remember buying the first wave of Toa, with their elemental powers, and avidly reading the comics with sweeping story arcs that accompanied them. The first Bionicle theme lasted until 2009, when it was discontinued in favor of LEGO’s next buildable-action figure theme, Hero Factory. Hero Factory had a successful run for five years, from 2010-2014, but never achieved the acclaim or fandom that surrounded Bionicle. Last year, LEGO returned to Bionicle, and fans could experience the world of the Toa heroes again. All told, over the 12 years Bionicle has been in production, Bricklink records 433 set entries for the theme — a remarkable life for the home-grown theme. However, LEGO has announced that 2016 will be the final year for Bionicle. Here’s LEGO’s official press release: THE CONCLUSION OF “THE JOURNEY TO ONE” MARKS THE END FOR LEGO® BIONICLE® GENERATION 2 Fans, today we have to share the news with you that we have made the tough decision to discontinue LEGO® BIONICLE® at the end of 2016. NETFLIX has just started streaming the final two episodes of “The Journey to One” the ending of which, will put an end to any speculation about the future of LEGO® BIONICLE®. With the 2015 relaunch of LEGO® BIONICLE®, we set out to revive a childhood favorite of fans worldwide, and bring it to a new group of children who were too young to have known and played with LEGO® BIONICLE® Generation 1. From your wonderful feedback over the last year, we feel very proud to have performed that task. Currently, the last wave of LEGO® BIONICLE® products is launching in Europe and North America. These products will, however, not reach the shelves in Asia and the Pacific markets. Next up is the #BIONICLEbuildmakuta Rebrick Contest, starting August 1st, that will give you a chance to compete for some unique prizes.

All you have to do is to give us your best shot at the Evil Overlord himself. On behalf of the LEGO® BIONICLE® team we would like to say that it has been absolutely thrilling to work on a theme that evokes so much interest, dedication and emotion. We would like to thank you for taking in LEGO® BIONICLE® Generation 2 and sharing all your builds, stories, artwork, joy, criticism and praise. By doing so you have not only expanded the universe but also made the amazing BIONICLE® Community even stronger and more amazing. We are confident that you will ensure that BIONICLE® lives on. I don’t know much about Lego Bionicle. I don’t have any of those figures here in my office. But I know, that many folks out there like Bionicle. And that is a good thing. So Matthias and I try to take images of most of them at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg. The colours are different – we have seen a few shooter and same technic bricks around, but… I think, I put the images of ‚Uxar – Creature of Jungle‘ (71300), Ekimu the Mask Maker (71312), Umarak the Destroyer (71316) and all the others just down below.
