Service is set up at the same time a resident sets up a water account with the City. The charge for trash collection appears on the monthly water bill as a refuse charge, and is paid by the resident to the City of Lewisville. All residential trash, bulky waste and yard waste is collected once a week on the same day. Waste Management provides each residence a solid green 96-gallon cart with a serial number for trash.

Once the cart is full, residents can set out two additional bags/cans of trash up to 39 gallons each. Residents are required to have the trash cart placed at the curb or alley collection location by 7 a.m. on the scheduled collection day. Collection containers should not be set out for collection more than 24 hours prior to the collection date and should be removed from the collection point within 24 hours of collection date. Additional carts are available at a charge of $5 per month. To access the request form, click here. Household hazardous waste materials (HHW) should not be placed in the trash. This includes paint, cleaning solvents, pool chemicals, pesticides, automotive fluids, batteries, ammunition and other items marked as hazardous wastes. The City offers a monthly collection for HHW. To get more information about that program and what materials are accepted, click here. Residents may not set out any waste generated from a nonresidential source to be collected as residential waste.

Animal carcasses should not be placed out for trash collection. Residents must contact the City’s Animal Services Division at 972.219.3478 for proper disposal of animal carcasses. Bulky waste is material that is too large for the trash cart. Bulky items are collected on the same day as trash and should be placed at the collection location near the trash cart. The total limit for bulky waste is three (3) cubic yards per week. As a rule of thumb, items which are too large to fit in the back of a truck should not be disposed as bulky waste. Special collection services for these and similar items must be arranged directly with Waste Management. Payment for such services will be the responsibility of the resident. Examples of acceptable bulky items include: Residents are encouraged to choose a recycling option for bulky items when that is available. For example, many appliances can be recycled with local metal recyclers. Yard waste is collected on the same day as trash collection.

Acceptable yard waste includes leaves, yard trimmings, garden debris, and small brush (less than four (4) inches in diameter and four (4) feet in length) which results from residential landscaping maintenance. Yard waste cannot be loose; it must be in a bag or container, or bundled and tied. Weight must not exceed 50 pounds per container. Yard waste should be placed at the collection location near the trash cart. The weekly limit for yard waste is three (3) cubic yards. Soil, dirt, sand, concrete, large stumps, shrubs with intact root balls, and treated wood are not considered yard waste and will not be collected as such. Special collection services are available for these and similar items, and that collection must be arranged directly with Waste Management. Payment for such services will be the responsibility of the resident. Residents may also use their free landfill privileges to dispose of such items from their residences. If your collection day falls on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year’s Day, your service will be delayed by one day.
