We stayed at Villa Seahorse from February 4-11. I would first like to state that the correspondence with the owner prior to arrival was first class. Brenda responded to all of our inquires and comments from the day we booked to the night before we arrived promptly. The villa itself is beautiful, 3 good sized bedrooms all with en suites. The king sized beds are very comfortable and the decorations are very fitting for the property. The layout in the backyard (ocean side) is perfect, lots of comfortable seating in either the sun or the shade. We spent the majority of our stay by the either the pool, beach or lounging in the sectional couch after dinner. The staff was excellent. Abi, Andrea and Chapi all went above our expectations to make us comfortable. Chapi provided some valuable tips and stays at the property overnight in a separate area of the villa. Chapi always made sure everything was put away and the villa locked up prior to bed. Andrea did a fantastic job everyday making sure the villa was clean and tidy for the coming day.
Abi looked after preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner for us and did a great job. The food in Jamaica is expensive, plan to spend $250-$350 USD per person excluding alcohol. Abi will prepare almost anything you would like but take the time to talk with her to get an idea what she can and cannot do. We did find it a little unnerving that the villa had to be completely locked up at night including all the windows. We would have preferred to have the windows open to listen the surf. The area itself is fairly quiet and relaxing, located on a side road of the main highway. The only slight negative is its proximity to the main highway which produced occasional traffic noise in the backyard. (ie. motorcycles, large trucks) Transportation can be arranged through the villa from the airport and from the villa into Ocho Rios. It is expensive $120 USD per trip. You will need to factor this into your expenses when you go for groceries or go into town. The driver Andrew is very knowledgeable and provides a large air conditioned van but you may want to shop your transportation around.
Overall the Seahorse Villa is an 8 out 10. Unfortunately the owners cannot control the food prices, transportation costs or highway noise. Would I recommend this to a friend? We would like to thank the staff at Villa Seahorse for a job well done. Excellent Property in a great location We just got home from a 1 week stay at Seahorse. We totally enjoyed our stay and the wonderful staff of Abi, Andrea, and Chappy looked after every possible need we had. They are totally enjoyable to be around. Meals were fantastic and the house and grounds were well looked after. Wifi need some improvements. Elvin & Peggy Hultin , Calgary AB It is rare that a place is better than the photos, but the Seahorse Villa is truly breathtaking. We were able to explore the ocean and spent much of our time paddleboarding, kayaking, fishing, and snorkeling. Chappie was helpful in letting us know when the tides were safe which made me feel comfortable about having my children out on the water.
Being right on the ocean, local fisherman stopped by with the morning’s catch and I’m still dreaming about Abby’s cream cheese lobster she whipped up from our purchase. Afternoons by the pool with piña coladas and music sweetened the experience. All of our wants and needs were taken care of by the professional and courteous staff with a smile. It was a beautiful and effortless vacation where I could relax and enjoy time with my family. I can’t wait for our next visit! You will not be disappointed with this villa. The layout is perfect for a family or group of people. The location was perfect. Right in between all there is to do in Jamaica. The beach is quiet and a perfect get away from all the hustle and bustle. We traveled with three teenagers 17, 16 and 13. I was concerned they would be bored, but I was wrong. They loved having their own pool and not fighting for a place to lounge in he sun. The two pool floats were a bonus too. We used the paddle boards and kayaks everyday.
My 13 year old would go out on the paddle board and just float. Some days the waves were big enough to play in. We made sure to venture out and see Jamaica. We made use of a driver for our excursions. He was great and made suggestions to avoid the regular tourists spots and get the real Jamaican experience. We were not disappointed. The icing on the cake was the staff. Chappy was our go to man. He was there for whatever we needed and made our stay amazing. He kept things stocked and ready for our use. Abbie is an amazing cook. She made things my kids would have never tried if I made it and they loved it. She has a very special talent. Andrea was the House keeper which was such a treat. She made our beds everyday, did an everyday turn down and light laundry. For the mom, I was in heaven. The owners were easy to work with and answered all my questions quickly. Don't pass your chance to book a perfect home with all the amenities and more of an all inclusive resort without the crowds of people.
nice home with amenities Seahorse villa was a nice home with nice furniture, comfortable beds, quality linens and towels. We had fun playing games each night that were provided by the villa , while Chappie made sure and light the outside fire lanterns to try and keep the mosquitoes away. We used the paddle boards and kayaks daily for exercise. The bay water was nice enough (not your crystal clear blue) but the calmness of it was nice for the paddle board and kayaks. The villa is in the middle of Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, so day trips are easy both ways. The cook, housekeeper and grounds keeper are very nice people and try to please as much as possible. The only negatives I could talk about would be the WiFi. We could never get connected (we have AT&T), so to check in to Southwest, we had to go to a restaurant in Montego Bay, but we were going there anyways. Thank-You Brenda for letting us live the Jamaican lifestyle in your villa. We are not resort type of people.
Wonderful Family Getaway at Seahorse! We had a family of 6 stay at the Seahorse and it was very comfortable! Food was amazing and everyone helping at the house was so hospitable and friendly. AC worked very well in every room and the whole house was kept incredibly clean. Each meal was delicious and we enjoyed the food at Seahorse so much that we barely went out to eat! The soft, sandy beach was a few steps away from the house and having the pool was wonderful. The house is located in between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay but almost everything we did was in Ocho Rios which was only about 30-40 min away. Seahorse had all the comforts of a hotel but the friendly and warm atmosphere of feeling like you are living at home! We would definitely come back! Lastly, Brenda who is the owner was also absolutely lovely! She promptly answered ALL my many questions and requests and even heped to mail my prescription glasses to me that I had left in the villa. THANK YOU to all those at Seahorse Villa!!!
