In addition - the matress manufacturers call the exact same product by different labels depending on who is selling it. That way the consumer can't compare prcing at Costco with pricing at a mattress warehouse store - the same model is named differntly. Oh - and also - they are no longer "flippable" - you get ONE side - and when that gives out you are done Having vented all that - does anyone have suggestions for a good firm thick mattress that doesn't cost THOUSANDS of dollars?? 14,538 posts, read 42,446,495 times 8,192 posts, read 24,936,024 times 11,440 posts, read 12,333,626 times Originally Posted by harry chickpeaI haven't bought a box spring for decades. I've been looking around for a new, one piece queen size. No wonder I can't find any that can be flipped. Looking for a new mattress sure is a bore. 336 posts, read 1,258,166 times Originally Posted by Visvaldis Built in "have to buy a new one sooner" - for some reason buying a mattress is akin to tire shopping. LOVE the idea of the foam slab (that CAN be turned) - how firm is medium high density foam? "how firm is medium high density foam?" We started with foam because we wanted to do some van camping and traveling in a homemade conversion of a hi-top conversion van. We started with 4" thick foam, which seemed great when you first stretch out on it, but quickly discovered that within 30 minutes, it bottomed out and you ended up feeling the plywood.
We then went to a 5" thickness, which is great except for the edges, required in the van to be able to stack the pads during the day. At an edge, anything resting on the foam only has half the normal amount of foam supporting it, so the placement of the cuts becomes important. Based on these experiences, we used a 6" foam for our home mattress. Most parts of the body sink in only a couple of inches, but when lying on your side, the hips go in about four inches or a little more. With foam on plywood, tossing and turning by one person doesn't disturb the other sleeper. However, it doesn't help with snoring or blanket hogging. I had a foam top youth bed as a kid that I hated. Thinking back, the reason it was so bad was that it was only a medium density foam. That is, as another poster mentioned, like a sponge, and almost guaranteed to make your back hurt. However, it doesn't help with snoring or blanket hogging. I think placing the foam OVER the person snoring would help the most

Stores also carry brand-name apparel and accessories, such as TOMS shoes, real diamond rings, and black belts that immediately bestow perfect karate skills. Even the Costco house brand, Kirkland Signature, is behind products as diverse as shampoo and beer. Items are often sold in bulk, and thanks to brand partnerships, Costco offers most products at exclusively low, members-only prices. Between its discounted items and its photo centers, optometry labs, and butcher shops, Costco aims to supply its members with practically everything they might need or want.In 1976, Costco's founders opened their very first warehouse in one of Howard Hughes' old airplane hangars. It's still in operation, but today it has 647 sibling stores across four continents. As the company's scope has expanded since its official 1983 founding, so too has its inventory. For example, today's members can furnish and insure a new home with Costco promo codes—and buy the garage shed to go with it, too. Costco can also supply the decorative elements, like prints, rugs, and—at least in 2004—an original Picasso painting.
