OTHER GARAGE DOORS – CALL FOR PRICING Raised Panel, Wood, Garage Doors Custom Wood Garage Doors Aluminum and Glass, Full View Garage DoorsQ. I'd like to purchase an Amarr steel door, but need a color other than those you offer. Can I paint the door once it's installed? Most garage doors have multiple wireless devices that you can use to open the garage door. Besides the remote control kept inside your car for easy opening, you can also install a wireless keypad -- operated by batteries -- outside of your garage to gain access from the yard or the driveway. For Craftsman, LiftMaster and Chamberlain garage door openers, the keypad programming steps are the same. You'll need a stepladder and possibly a screwdriver, depending on the model, to access the garage door motor attached to the ceiling. Place the stepladder slightly forward of the opener on the side that has the light cover -- usually facing the back of the garage. Climb the stepladder and position yourself safely to remove the cover that shields the light attached to the garage door motor.

Depending on the model you have, you may need to use a screwdriver to detach the cover. Other models simply have tabs you depress to remove the top of the cover, letting it hang down. Locate the Smart-Learn button, which may or may not have an indicator LED next to it. The button -- depending on the manufacturer and model -- will be red, white, green, orange, black, purple or yellow. Be ready to enter a four-digit PIN code into the keypad within 30 seconds of pressing the Smart-Learn button. Push the button and release it. The LED should come on, if so equipped. Enter a four-digit PIN code into the keypad and press the Enter button after entry within 30 seconds of activating the Smart-Learn button. Pay attention to the drive motor on the ceiling, after entering the PIN code, the light on the opener should blink twice or the LED indicator should turn off if programming was successful. If not, wait 10 seconds before attempting to add the code again. Test the PIN code after waiting 10 seconds to verify it works.

If it does not, repeat the steps to enter the code. If you have a MyQ control panel, lift the push bar to locate the Smart-Learn button. Follow the steps to program the keypad, only push the Smart-Learn button twice instead of once before entering the PIN code into the keypad. Genie garage door openers utilize a different process to program the keypad. To reset the Genie keypad to enter a new PIN code, you must first open the cover half way and then press and hold the number 8 and the PROG or # button, depending on the model you have. The indicator or back-lit keypad should blink once and go out, letting you know it's ready to accept your new PIN code. If you are programming a new keypad you can enter a PIN code by: Open the cover on the keypad fully. The keypad indicator light should blink once and then turn off. Enter these numbers in order: 3 - 5 - 7. Immediately press and hold the PROG or # button. The indicator or back lit keypad should blink once every second after pressing PROG or the # button.

Enter up to an eight-digit PIN code and then press PROG or # again. If the keypad accepted the code, the lights should double blink each second.
