I don’t think I’ve ever felt so hungry looking at Lego blocks! A Japanese Lego creator who goes by the nickname Tary has sculpted one of the most delicious-looking collections of food made entirely from Lego blocks. From fruit and vegetables to bento boxes, junk food and even desserts, Tary has almost all major food groups covered! Of course Tary doesn’t only create food. He sculpts Gundam robots and Star Wars characters, each more impressive than the last. But it’s really his food creations that have won him the most recognition. Like that pizza slice! Who could have thought dripping cheese could be so realistically portrayed with hard blocks? One of Tary’s most recent creations was the Tendon tempura rice bowl. Using a combination of white blocks for the rice and yellow and orange blocks for the deep-fried shrimp tempura, he created a magnificent-looking meal that won 1st place in an original Lego model contest. The entries are on display through May 31, 2016 at ClickBrick Lego store in Odaiba, Tokyo (located within the Venus Fort shopping complex – Gmap) if you’d like to visit.

The new launch will add to the Denmark-based company’s six attractions worldwide, located in England, Germany, Denmark, Malaysia, and the US (California and Florida). Considering that Japan’s theme park market is an estimated ¥7 billion—the largest in Asia and the second largest in the world—and taking to account the success of the Legoland Tokyo store in Odaiba, Lego is keen to begin building in the Land of the Rising Sun. Legoland Nagoya will cost an estimated ¥32 billion to put together and employ close to 1,000 people. Although the Legoland Discovery Center in Japan already hosts attractions including a Lego ride, 4D cinema, and other interactive activities, the Center is located indoors. The new theme park, however, will be in an open, outdoor space on the same scale as the recently opened Florida location, with 150 acres of restaurants, shows, 50 rides, and shopping facilities.

In collaboration with Lego brand’s parent company, Merlin Entertainment, and Investment Firm KIRKBI, the new attraction is anticipated to open in the second quarter of 2017. There will also be a Legoland opening in Dubai in 2016. Promising full replicas of Tokyo Tower, Sky Tree, Sensoji Temple, and even a Famima konbini at Legoland Tokyo, we’re looking forward to what other Japanese touches Legoland Nagoya will have in store! You must be 16 or over to participate in the Brickset Forum. I'm going to Tokyo for work on Saturday, staying until the following Sunday. Are there any sets that i should look out for? I know the first ideas set #21100 was exclusive to Japan so I'll keep an eye out for that.Anything else that I might have a better chance of finding? My haul of tasty treats from my trip.  Those yuzu crisp stick things were so deeelish.

amazing, who would have guessed kitkat would be such a big thing. I am planning to go to at least one clickbrick. There are 2 new stores opening when I am there and both have opening week offers. The prices seem to be about the same as here so no massive bargains to be had. The only thing I did notice was the #60098 train is about £85 on amazon which is ok but not worth lugging halfway round the world. I wonder if lego has much presence in Akihabara? I was hoping the retro scene would have flowed over into lego. What stores sell lego for a good price? I visited Japan recently and only stopped in at BIC Camera and the like but the prices for lego didn't seem particularly appealing.during the Lunar New Year? Well, I FIGURED THAT! ;pBut Christmas sets were out before Christmas, so wouldn't Lunar New Year sets possibly be out at least a month before the holiday? All I have heard is within the next month or 2. @ma1234 True for any of the non-licensed themes.  Also we don't get the big creator sets anywhere but the brickset stores.

they are behind by a year or two usually and those are always overpriced. They're out in Hong Kong already. And will be out in Malaysia next week. Such is the case with a young Chinese boy, who single-handedly pushed over a giant fox figurine of Nick from Zootopia on Sunday at the LEGO Expo in Ningbo, China. It so happened that it was the first day of the exhibition and the display had been open to the public for no more than an hour when the incident occurred. The LEGO figurine is said to cost more than 100,000 yuan ($15,170). The finished $15,000 LEGO figurine did not stay as so for long.Zhao declined compensation as he insisted the child had not meant to break the figurine. The artist went on to post pictures of the broken figurine on his Weibo account, but did not elaborate about what had happened except to say he was heartbroken to see his hard work destroyed. Zhao proudly poses with his work before it was destroyed. This LEGO fiasco is a far cry from another incident involving children, which took place on May 17, at the Shanghai Museum of Glass. Two young boys were caught on security cameras entering a restricted display area and breaking off the wings of a glass angel sculpture by Chinese artist, Shelly Xue. The boys were chaperoned by two adults who not only stood by and watched the boys wreak havoc, but also whipped out their phones to film the boys. After the footage of the glass incident went viral, netizens called for parents to keep their children in check and also for galleries to ban children from entering.
