LEGO toy suggests Boba Fett might appear in Star Wars prequel, Rogue One The German toy fair might have revealed the identity of the film's villain Wednesday 3 February 2016 13:33 GMT A Rogue One LEGO set showcased at the Nuremberg Toy Fair has hinted at the appearance of classic Star Wars character Boba Fett. Keen-eyed fans noticed that a ship embossed on the LEGO set's box possesses a similarity to Slave 1, the vehicle owned by the bounty hunter first seen in 1980's The Empire Strikes Back. In the franchise, the attack ship was originally owned by his 'father' Jango Fett before being passed over to Boba. More #LEGO #StarWars Reveals from Nuremberg! #RogueOne & a Droid Tales-esque series titled The Freemaker Adventures. Granted, the paint job looks a bit different but, following rumours of Fett's appearance, it seems like this could be more than coincidental; one such rumour suggests that the film's protagonist, played by Felicity Jones, is the bounty hunter's daughter.

It has also been heavily rumoured that Darth Vader will appear, featuring brutal battlefield scenes of the legendary villain. Rogue One is the first of three planned prequels that are scheduled to be released in the years between each new Star Wars film. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla), Rogue One will also star Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker and Ben Mendelsohn. The film follows a team of resistance fighters who plot to destroy plans for the evil galactic Empire's Death Star. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will be released on 16 December.Episode VII left fans with many unanswered questions. How did Lor San Tekka get part of Luke’s map? What were Han and Chewie doing alone on a ship full of deadly Rathtar? The answers to these and other burning questions arrive next month in LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Like previous games in the series, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will give players a chance to play through blocky, family-friendly versions of the events of the movie.

But as the “New Adventures” trailer demonstrates, the game is also going beyond the film through a series of special levels designed specifically to flesh out events that were glossed over on the big screen. For example, the movie opens with the dashing Poe Dameron arriving on Jakku to retrieve a map to Luke Skywalker from Max von Sydow’s Lor San Tekka. In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, players will play as Lor San Tekka as he procures the map. In an interview with Time, lead writer Graham Goring reveals that another side mission sees Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma searching for Lor San Tekka on the planet Ottegan, a trail that eventually leads them to the opening of the film. We’ll get to experience hunting and capturing the Rathar with Han and Chewie in a side mission that might explain why the smuggling duo are all alone on a giant ship when we meet them in the film. What’s amazing about these side missions, aside from the fact that they feature new dialog recorded by the cast of the movie (Harrison Ford saying “Wookie Cookies” is the best thing ever), is that this is all technically canon material.

In the Time interview Goring explains how the new material came about. “So how that happened is, Lucasfilm came to us and said, ‘These are bits of background information you could expand upon and turn into levels.’ They had a very good idea of what people would want to know, like C-3PO’s red arm, or what was Lor San Tekka doing before the start of the film. He appears briefly in it, but you know, other stuff like what happened to the rest of Han’s crew when they hunted the Rathtars.”Mind you the C-3PO red arm question was answered in a Marvel Comics one-shot last month, but much of the side mission content coming in next month’s LEGO game is all-new canon material based on background information given to the game developers by Lucasfilm. It’s a unique opportunity to expand the Star Wars universe for fans in a very strange place. LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives on consoles, handhelds and PCs on June 28. And for the first time in LEGO Star Wars video game history, we’re going to have to worry about spoilers.

Unlike the poor Generation Xers who had to wait three years between "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" to find out if Han Solo would escape his frozen incarceration in carbonite, however, fans now just have to wait 360 days for a new "Star Wars" movie.

"‘Star Wars: Rogue One," starring from l., actors turned rebel spies, Riz Ahmed, Diego Luna, Felicity Jones, Jiang Wen and Donnie Yen. 'STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS' BRINGS IN $238M, SETS OPENING WEEKEND RECORD With "The Force Awakens" kicking off a brand new trilogy and multiple "anthology" standalones filling in the gaps between those installments, Disney and Lucasfilm plan to release a new "Star Wars" movie every year for at least the next six years. (Insiders say the plan goes at least three years beyond that.) Production has begun on "Star Wars: Episode VIII," which brings back the breakout stars of "The Force Awakens," BB-8 and Rey. Here's what movie-goers can start to plan to line up for in the coming years: * "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (Dec. 16, 2016) Remember that part of the opening crawl for "A New Hope" that referenced the rebel spies who "managed to steal secret plans to the empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR?" Well, this standalone movie, directed by Gareth Edwards ("Godzilla") and starring Felicity Jones and Donnie Yen, covers that clandestine mission.

A Han Solo origin movie is also in the works. * "Star Wars: Episode VIII" (May 26, 2017) Filming is underway for the follow-up to "The Force Awakens," set to open 40 years and a day after the original "Star Wars" hit theaters in 1977. The movie will continue the adventures of Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Luke (Mark Hamill), but will feature Rian Johnson ("Looper") taking over writing and directing duties from J. J. Abrams. * Untitled Han Solo origin story (expected out in 2018) Written by "Star Wars" vet Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jon, the movie will focus on the adventures of the scoundrel before he stumbled on Luke and Obi Wan in that Mos Eisley cantina. Co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller of "LEGO Movie" fame are currently on their own Kessel run through thousands of hopefuls eager to step into Harrison Ford's boots. Rumors there are that Yoda will also get a standalone anthology film. * "Star Wars: Episode IX" (2019) The current trilogy's storyline will be wrapped up by "Jurassic World" helmer Colin Trevorrow, courtesy of an all-important seal of approval from Steven Spielberg.
