Adding a towering wave would be even more awesome :)Image Credit: Gizmodo/Andrew Liszewski Pirates of the Caribbean 5's Super Bowl trailer gave us a look at an amazing ghost ship in the film, captained by Jack’s new rival, the undead Captain Salazar. Now, Lego has revealed it’s turning the Salazar’s ghost ship into a humongous new model—one that can open itself up just like the one in the movie, which is totally freaky for a ship. Revealed at New York Toy Fair this morning, the 2,200 piece Silent Mary set might just be one of the most bizarre ships Lego has ever made, either in their own traditional Pirate-themed lines or for Pirates of the Caribbean.

The whole ship doesn’t actually have a base—it’s hull is all decayed and lined like a skeletal rib cage, and floats in the air (through movie magic in the film, the Lego version has its own stands to support it, of course). Yahoo got some more pictures of the ship with its biggest action feature, however: the front half of the whole thing can tilt itself up like it does in the trailer. It looks totally weird, and yet kind of awesome in Lego form. The detailing to get the grungy, decaying look of the whole thing is really well done. When fully built, the Silent Mary is a beast of a vessel, even without the ability to contort itself in ways no other ship can—coming in at 26 inches from bow to stern, and 18 inches tall from bottom to the top of its tallest decrepit mast. Aside from the ship itself, the set comes with a small rowboat for the heroes to desperately sail away from the Mary in, and eight minifigures: Jack Sparrow, Henry, and Carina, and then villains Lieutenant Lesaro, Captain Salazar, Officer Magda, Officer Santos, and the Silent Mary Masthead itself.

That last one feels like a bit of a cheat addition if you ask me, but overall, the ship itself is a really intriguing looking kit, even if it’s not a traditional pirate ship. The Silent Mary will set you back $200 when it releases April 1.Before you can vote for cool new LEGO sets, or submit your own you'll need to sign in with or register for a LEGO ID: You're currently signed in to LEGO ID as . The Goonies 30th Anniversary - The Inferno Official LEGO Comments 4 Update: 21/12/2013I have updated this project to fit in with LEGO CUUSOO's new guidelines. Originally this campaign was for several kits, but now I am splitting them into different projects.

Because the Pirate ship was the most asked for, I am keeping this as my 'main' Goonies project. In this project there are no Lego Logos, non-Lego elements or proposed new molds. Everything in this project can be made out of exisiting LEGO, bar a few new printed decals for the minifigs. The Goonies is one of the most iconic movies of the 1980’s. It gave us adventure, pirates, mobsters, the loveable Sloth and of course, the Truffle Shuffle! It was an action packed movie told through the eyes of children. Even now, The Goonies is very much represented in modern popular culture. T-Shirts, Badges and other apparel are all available everywhere and as a franchise it is still very popular, especially to those who were young when it came out, as it is a movie very close to a lot of people's hearts. In 2015, the Goonies will be 30 years old, so what better time than now to start a Cuusoo campaign to reignite Lego’s interest in this franchise in time for the celberation? With the success of the Back to the Future set, and Ghostbusters in review with Cuusoo, there's definately enough interest in retro movies from the 80's to warrent this.

My campaign offers up all our favourite characters in Mini-Figure form, as well as concepts for several interconnecting sets, which will help kids (and adults) to re-enact the story from start to finish. The other sets will appear in different campaigns. In regards to Lego’s brand standards,The Goonies very much fits into the ethics that Lego believe in. It’s fun, exciting and offers many possibilities for expansion. It is also very reminiscent of other existing Lego licensed products such as Indiana Jones and Harry Potter, and just like everyone’s favourite wizard. Everything is centred on children as the main protagonists. It also has the added appeal of being a nostalgic setpiece that the older collectors of Lego will cherish. This set is based on the finale of the Goonies Movie, where the kids finally find the treasure. When I created this set, I looked at some of the existing Lego Pirate sets out there. I thought the Pirates of the Carribean set 'The Black Pearl' was very similar to the Inferno so I used a lot of the design aspects from that to create this.

What I didnt like about the Black Pearl set tho was that it was basically just one deck. So I have restructured the design and the Inferno is taller, and has 2 decks. You can lift part of the top deck up and there is a playset underneath, with cannons and skeletons littered about. The cabin to the rear of the ship is also bigger than the Black Pearl and opens up to reveal the dead pirate One Eyed Willy sat at his table covered in treasures. I have also added the dreaded 'plank' that the Goonies have to walk, and for fun, I added a crows nest for extra playability. Surrounding the ship are jagged rocks, and for the harcore fans, I've added the infamous 'Octopus' from one of the deleted scenes. This is probably the 'big' set in the series, so I would have all the minifigures in this one.
