After photos leaked from a Canadian Toys "R" Us store earlier this year, LEGO officially announced that a Ghostbusters (1984) themed set was in the works and would be hitting shelves in early 2016. The collection will be centered around the iconic firehouse (New York City's Hook & Ladder 8) where the squad set up shop in the first film, which avid LEGO fans probably already know. Photos that the company teased in October featured the exterior of the completed set with the firehouse as a backdrop, but now LEGO has shared a much more detailed look at the 4634-piece set. Rated for builders ages 16 and up, the "Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters" set includes 12 minifigures, from the ghost to the busters themselves, to Slimer, Dana Barrett (Sigourney Weaver), Louis Tully (Rick Moranis), and Eleanor Twitty, the Librarian Ghost. According to LEGO, the release date is January 1, 2016, and the set will cost Ghostbusters fans $349.99.Check Out LEGO Chris Hemsworth And Kristen Wiig In The New Ghostbusters SetThe new Ghostbusters movie doesn’t hit theaters until this summer, but people are already very excited about the all-female twist on the supernatural comedy— and all the swag that comes with it.

In advance of this year's Toy Fair, LEGO unveiled part of their new line-up of Ghostbusters building sets and mini-figs, including LEGO versions of Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in mini-fig form complete with LEGO proton packs and traps—and even their receptionist Kevin, played by Chris Hemsworth. LEGO also released photos of the new ECTO 1, complete with opening side doors and plenty of room for all the ghost busting action. The set will be available on July 1st, weeks before the new Ghostbuster movie hits theaters on July 25th .For more Ghostbusters sneak peeks and hints, follow director Paul Feig on Twitter, because he’s been posting plenty of teasers. A few years ago, someone submitted a LEGO idea (then called Cuusoo) of the Ecto-1 and the four members of the team from the 1984 Ivan Reitman comedy-horror film Ghostbusters. Amazingly, it got enough votes and a set was actually made. (It’s really cool, by the way.) Now we live in a world where LEGO Ghostbusters are a main part of the Dimensions video game experience and more and more minifigs are available for that.

It only seems natural, then, for LEGO to wanna get all over the reboot of the spectre-hunting comedy coming out this summer. They have, and it looks pretty damn awesome. There’s a brand new Ecto-1 and Busters set coming out in conjunction with Paul Feig‘s highly anticipated new film which will pit Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones up against the forces of darkness, with their eye-candy secretary Chris Hemsworth in tow. All five are featured in the new set, along with an evil ghost or entity (you always need a bad guy for toy sets, it’s the rule) being called a Daemon on the package. The next section will feature a possible spoiler, so skip the paragraph if you want to go in totally unspoilt. The Chris Hemsworth minifig—Kevin is the character’s name—comes with reversible faces. This is pretty common nowadays so you can change expressions. However, the one Kevin face is him being smiley and helpful, and the other one is him possessed with red eyes and a snarl.

They usually don’t make LEGO representations that aren’t featured in the movie, so we can extrapolate (it took really long, lemme tell ya) that Kevin’s gonna get possessed by that Daemon at some point. Maybe he’ll become the new Zuul they have to fight/exorcise in order to save their friend. Or maybe they just blow his head up, we have no idea. A full gallery of the minifigs is below. The set will be available on July 1, which gives folks a good two weeks to play with it before Ghostbusters hits theaters on July 15. Maybe we’ll combine these with the Monster Hunters sets we have. They got the tools, they got the talent! Let us know your thoughts on the Ghostbusters LEGO set in the comments down yonder! We recently showed you the first toys featuring main characters Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones) and Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon).

Today, director Paul Feig revealed a look at LEGO's upcoming playset from the movie on his Twitter page, with Yahoo! Movies later revealing the full set of photos. Be warned, though, since a few of these images contain potential SPOILERS. Read on at your own risk. The LEGO set features mini-figure versions of all four main characters, along with Chris Hemsworth as the Ghostbusters' secretary, Kevin. These photos give us our first look at the ghostly villain, known as the Red Daemon, while a second photo of Kevin teases that he in fact becomes possessed by a ghost, at some point in the Ghostbusters remake. This is the first we're learning of Chris Hemsworth's possession, but perhaps we'll see more when the first trailer arrives. The story centers on Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig) and Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), who, years ago, wrote a book that posited ghosts do in fact exist. The plot picks up with Erin acquiring a teaching position at the prestigious Columbia University, but she is laughed out of academia once word of her book surfaces.

At the same time, Abby is working with a new partner, Jillian Holtzman (Kate McKinnon), just as a new slew of ghosts begin to invade New York City. Erin ends up joining forces with Abby and Jillian, along with a new partner Patty (Leslie Jones), to save the Big Apple from these ghosts.Paul Feig directs from a script he co-wrote with Katie Dippold, with original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman producing alongside Dan Aykroyd. The supporting cast includes Andy Garcia as the mayor of New York City, Michael K. Williams as Hawkins, Matt Walsh as Rourke, Pat Kiernan as a news anchor and Neil Casey as the human villain. No details have been given for any of these supporting characters at this time. They will also be joined by a number of original Ghostbusters stars.Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts and Ernie Hudson have all been confirmed for cameo appearances. {Bill Murray has been rumored to play a character named Martin Heiss, who tries to debunk the Ghostbusters' claims that paranormal beings are invading the city.
