I remember getting this for Christmas, my first space LEGO set. I don't think I had much interest or knowledge of space and science before that, but it may be one of the "pieces" that led me along the path of my life -- I am now an industrial physicist. Gotta love LEGO for releasing the imagination.T J rates this set 5 of 5 stars.I like it because it was one of the first space toys to come out in 1978.

This is the old but fun toy that kids love to play with.GS rates this set 5 of 5 stars.I played with this set for hours and hours - loved it !Trent rates this set 5 of 5 stars. This set is great! This set itself just totally defines the Classic Space theme of the era. This set comes with a fuel tank truck which can also split into just a little rover to drive around. There are two rubber hoses for the two fuel tanks which may be the two chemicals to fuel the rocket. The separate build of the fuel tank truck itself is very cool and interesting with the use of brackets. The other end off the hoses can then connect to the two spigots on the base. The rocket itself looks awesome and it can carry a load which is the satellite on top of it. The control room has 6 computer screens which is very awesome! The set in total has 7 computer screens with one being on the truck. You gotta love all those clunky computers in the Classic Space theme! On top of the control room is a fully movable radar dish with a transparent yellow roof.

There are 3 transparent Windows on the building which is also a very nice feature as you get a lot of transparent yellow with this set. The little control room itself is just about as classic as you can possibly get! The main thing about this set is the tower next to the rocket is on a hinge so you can bring the tower down, and prepare for launch! Three classic smiling minifigures come with this set and it's built on an awesome crater plate. I have to say this is one of the best Classic Space sets you can get. Out of my collection, this one really stands out. Another set from this same year is called the Command Center which is also cool, but this set has way more playability. The rocket, the tower, the fuel truck, the control room, and so on. The Command Center set which again from the same year, is nothing more than a building with 2 little rovers. This set is the best of the early classic space, 1979 which is my favorite year for classic space as all of the 1979 and 1980 sets just seem to fit together really well with the awesome color scheme before it started to change.

It's small when compared to sets today, but it's cool and cutesy which is what makes Lego Classic Space classic and not boring. In conclusion, this set is one of the best Classic Space sets there is!andRebis rates this set 5 of 5 stars. This was the 1st LEGO space-set I received in Christmas 1978. How many memories and funny... I played for a long time and now my son still play with this....Your ReviewOwn this LEGO set?
