After the success of last year's debut show in the city, BRICK: Built for LEGO fans is coming back to Birmingham's NEC during October half term. It’s a must for LEGO fans of all ages – where else would you see enormous LEGO sculptures and three million LEGO bricks all under one roof?
Organisers are promising even more of the world’s favourite BRICK as around 100 fan builders from all over the globe gather to display their amazing creations in the hugely extended Fan Zone. Watch this video of a giant ocean liner made out of LEGO at Brick 2015: BRICK promises amazing builds, interactive features and live LEGO building. Now the world’s number one toy and most recognised brand, BRICK will showcase everything from vintage LEGO sets and collectables to the breath-taking creations made by adult fans and ‘constructors’ that have never been seen in the UK before. It’s happening at Birmingham’s NEC from October 27 to 30, 2016. Last year's event featured an incredible life-size woolly mammoth, the Lord of the Ring’s Gandalf and the seven wonders of the world! This year promises even more excitement. There will be special guests and the latest exciting LEGO launches on the Live Stage, and even more have-a-go themed areas for the whole family to enjoy. The highlight of this year's show is the new MindStorms LEGO launch.
Visitors will be able to build LEGO robots then programme them to walk, talk and do anything they choose! Watch this amazing timelapse footage of the world's largest LEGO caravan being built: Warren has been a fan of LEGO since the age of four. He’s known as an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) turned professional builder, and the author of many LEGO inspired books. The foundations of BRICK came from the smaller events Warren and his partner Teresa organised around the UK. But when it became a much bigger event than expected, demanding more of Warren’s time, he joined forces with Clive Morton, who has a wealth of experience running shows and events in the UK. Together with Channell Events, they opened the doors on the first show in London in 2014. It was a sell-out success, making them look to the Midlands for their next event. There were loads of amazing features, one of which was the Wonders of the World exhibition! Some of the most iconic sites from across the globe were recreated, like Stonehenge, the Ruins of Petra, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Grand Canyon and the Great Wall of China.
It even featured the International Space Station. There were also enormous Lord of the Rings characters too. This year promises even more to take your breath away. There will also be amazing creations from professional LEGO builders Bright Bricks, who will be bringing a life=size woolly mammoth and sabre toothed tiger that have to been seen to be believed. The mammoth alone is nearly 5m long, over 1m wide and nearly 3m tall. She is made from over 250,000 LEGO bricks and weighs approximately one tonne on her base. Over three million LEGO blocks in huge ‘BRICK Pits’ will encourage adults and children of all ages to play and start building their own creation or they can help work on a larger build. If you need an expert to show you how it’s done, the Fan Zone will blow your mind with some epic LEGO structures rarely seen in the UK. The BRICK Live Stage will be filled with LEGO themed family fun and Guinness World Record attempts. There’s a LEGO shop from Toys’R’Us, a LEGO Museum and a large range of LEGO gifts, limited edition kits, vintage collectibles and art in BRICK Lane, making it an ideal place to stock up on Christmas presents.
